Yeah, I felt that, though it might have been in my head. Seemed to get more colds and stuff too, for the first 5 years.

Still the best and most difficult thing I’ve done in years though, knocking the ***s on the head. Giving up alcohol and drugs was a piece of piss compared to that.

Just occasionally, I’ll catch a whiff of someone’s *** smoke and have to stop myself grabbing the cigarette out of their hands. Thing is I know it’ll taste like snogging an ashtray, and will make me feel sick, but just for half a second...

For sure. And when I finally stopped smoking, I was on about 18 cups of tea a day...

Just cancelled my annual leave over Easter. Seemed pretty pointless to take it and do nothing.

Not normally but they've said we'll be allowed to roll upto 10 days across from this year to next. Think it's been allowed for the year that's just changed as well as I expect a lot in clinical areas was cancelled during March.

Couple of questions for the ITKs on here.

When furloughed are the Government paying 80% of gross and then taking tax and NI out of it or paying 80% of net with no tax and NI?

In the case of the second, if the company tops up your pay to 100% do you just pay tax and NI on the 20% which would be negligible for most people and you could end up better off.

My neighbour works for a cash rich company. Furloughed purely so the company can exploit the 80%/2.5k a month “benefit” scheme. The company are paying the balance of wages as they’re still operating. Shameful.

What's odd about seeing that Ad, I don't remember any cigarette ads from when I was younger, I can remember all the cigar ones, but none for cigarettes. Although I remember the pictures of the Marlboro man, who I think might have later died from cancer, and if memory serves me correctly, it was because of that it changed the attitudes of Americans towards smoking. I still remember the vending machines in pubs, and you used to get change in the packet. Although Italy still have vending machines, outside designated shops, but all cigarette sales are controlled by the government, and you might have to use something like an NI number to verify your age on them, never used one so couldn't be sure.

They’re covering 80% of the average wage from 19/20 tax year or of Feb ‘20 stand alone.

The payment is gross, so will be subject to tax and NI.

There wasn't much TV advertising for cigarettes, most of them static adverts at sports grounds. The most prominent ones were in horse and motor racing, JPS having their own team in the latter.

I even looked on youtube to see if any of them prompted my memory and none did. Normally with Ads, they use music to get your attention, and I've a pretty good memory for various harmony's, so I reckon your right, that there wasn't much TV advertising.

Now you've mentioned it, I remember all the advertising on F1 cars. They also tried to get around the ban at first by just using the colour logos. JPS were quite big along with Marlboro, the only other big brand cigarette I remember was No.6, don't know what happened to them (No.6), whether they rebranded.
