Yeah I agree. It assumed figures far below what they would actually turn out to be and was a mistake <ok>
At the end of the day mate you went on the attack when people brought up these issues earlier !
They are serious concerns and if the authorities started that the supplies where there there is some bad organisation which ever way you want to spin it !

In February the response started to take shape. No disagreement from me there. But the monumental shift from what the nhs was doing before and what it is doing now and preparing for now is colossal. There is no magic wand to immediately deal with all of the issues that were going to occur across such a huge organisation.

There were always going to be mistakes. There were always going to be failings. But the overall response and the impact that will make in dealing with this is something we should be proud of as a country. Not be looking for who to blame for everything not going to plan, or for not having the perfect plan.

We’ve just built a field hospital with 4000 beds in a conference centre, in 2 weeks. Don’t try and tell me that had the strategy been right 2 months ago, that we couldn’t have the right level of PPE and the right number of test kits available today.

The plan was flawed, not only in terms of the PPE and the detail, but also more fundamentally in terms of the actual strategy that they were initially working to, it reeked of amateurs trumping professionals from the off. You can choose to ignore the failings if you wish, I have no intention of doing so.

You may not be stupid. Not sure about that. Jury still out.

You’re definitely right wing though. Which means, statistically, that the likelihood of stupidity is greater in you than would otherwise be the case.

I’d consider myself centre ground with economic ideals shifted slightly to the right and social issues slightly to the left. I don’t need to conform to one side or the other because I’m secure enough in my own thoughts to not have them dictated to me :1980_boogie_down:

And i’d put big money on any practical measure of stupidity falling firmly on your side rather than mine :emoticon-0172-mooni

Always amuses me how quick you and Stan are to jump on poster's putting up pics, yet are so reluctant to put your own pics out there ... I wonder why <whistle>

Come on, don't be shy boys ... nowt to lose but your credibility <cheers>

I don't doubt for one second that everyone from top to bottom is doing their level best in what can only be described as a complete ****storm of a situation. 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing and we will all have things that we wish we had prepared better knowing what we know now. I am also sure that even within everyone doing their best that mistakes will be being made and weaknesses within the system showing up. I also believe that mistakes would be made no matter who was in charge and that those same weaknesses in the system would have come into play. Now is not the time to be apportioning blame but rather pulling together to get through this. That doesn't mean that those facing shortages or finding weaknesses in the system shouldn't highlight them though, otherwise they will never be sorted. Once this is all over I hope we can all recognise that everyone has done their best during this crisis, with many at the frontline going above and beyond. I also hope everyone is open to examining what could have been done better, what we can learn going forward, what level of realistic healthcare preparedness would have made things better (recognising it could never have been enough for a pandemic) and level of health system are we willing and prepared to pay for going forward.

To emphasise again though, I have nothing but the utmost respect for everyone facing up to this crisis. Decisions being made now will have life and death consequences for others and for many of those making the difficult decisions. It's a responsibility I don't envy at all. There will be many hard questions to answer later, but none as hard as the questions facing people day to day during this crisis.

You’ve just literally posted a pic from 36 years ago, of you and some lads getting hands on with each other.

What do you actually think you’ve proved there, seriously?

You

You sound like a Tory party cabinet member !
WE HAD PRIOR WARNING !
Dont you get that or are you just trying to save face here .
Theres nurses all over the local news here holding up banners saying
Mask
Giggles
Gown
Gloves
Everybody needs a good giggle <ok>

Let me point something out to you, there are limited suppliers of PPE and usually a fairly constant usage, Since Feb of this year every man and his dog have been demanding masks to wear whilst walking their dog, riding their bike and even some total loons driving their car,
and at work many more people are demanding gloves and aprons this has caused a massive shortage which is neither the fault of manufacturers, suppliers, the NHS or the Government.
How would you have overcome this situation?

That you still have small balls ... in that you still feel the need to ridicule from your insecure anonymity ... happy to clarify, tiddly nuts <cheers>

By all means say there should have been action earlier. The entire world will be saying the same thing when this is over.

There are layers upon layers of people at all levels within many organisations in every country who will wish they had acted sooner.

But when the reality started to hit home people have acted as well as they can. Government are in constant contact over this with senior figures in nhs England, public health England, universities and the scientists.

It’s ****. It would have been great if we acted sooner. It would have been great if most countries in the world acted sooner. That’s easy to say with hindsight though. And what we are seeing now and have been seeing since the reality of this set in is incredible hard work and action across the board from government, the NHS senior figures, NHS frontline staff etc...

I'll explain where I believe this whole thing went wrong....back in January, I didn't have a clue what was going on, why would I, I'm not obsessed with daily world news. Then come February I hear talk of a pandemic, I took it with a pinch of salt, afterall why wouldn't I, I've never experienced such a thing in my lifetime. Also my complacency came about because my logical thoughts said, surely someone would shut the borders if this was really occuring. Come March I started to listen after I was shown something occurring in Italy. My thoughts after seeing what I saw, shhite houston we have a problem! April, too late the horse has bolted. So where did we go wrong....WHY DIDNT WE SHUT THE FOOKING BORDERS!?

You’ve been posting long enough to have predicted that that pic was going to get ripped to shreds

It's not an issue from what I gather it's the supply to hospitals unless the ppe isnt really there in the first place!

You are both very arrogant and ridiculously thin skinned, which is why you often, very quickly, revert to personal attacks which often include making inappropriate comments about family members of the person who has hurt your fragile ego. It’s a thread about a pandemic but you want people to marvel at a photo of you and your mates from 35 years ago. Amazing really.
