I remember reading it a couple years back and checking. Think one of yours was in the 1800's.

Possibly.

Modern era (what the **** actually defines modern era by the way?) 1974.

I can recall Newastle being relegated three times myself.

Find it hard to believe they've only been relegated twice more on top of that. Perhaps they have, and have just spent ages not in the top division.

Being uniquely ****.

Ok. Seems odd? Cba to check.

They've spent longer periods out of the top division though, maybe that clouds what I'm thinking.

Yeah, the stat is correct but what you said there is correct too. The first time we got relegated we spent 15 years out of the top division, though that did include 6 war years where there was no football. We also spent 6 years in the 2nd Division in the late 70s and early 80s so our gaps from the top flight are definitely longer. We've been relegated 6 times now in total but two of them have been in the last 11 years under Ashley

Pre-Ashley we'd spent around 27ish seasons not in the top flight and Man Utd I think 21ish.

I'm not trying to argue we're in the same size of club as a behemoth like Man Utd but the styling of us as some kind of tinpot club with tinpot fans who should be happy fighting our way out of the Championship and yo-yo-ing between the leagues just doesn't stack up.

Oh I'm relaxed mate, it's just a game. 13 years of Ashley makes you nothing if not apathetic to the entire process. Once you accept you have no control and it'll never get any better a larger part of you just stops caring really. Attendances at NUFC will continue to drift downwards I suspect over the coming years, who in their right mind would pay to go there?
