It’s very rare that an individual doctor or nurse is negligent or lazy. 99.9999% of them are incredible and never more so than right now. My ex’s mum worked in a children’s hospice. How do you even keep going into work day after day to care for kids who are on the verge of death? Unbelievable strength. Shame that her daughter was such a **** really.

My fear is that they’re being sent into a gun fight with potato peelers.

Talking of hospitals, I wonder why alarm bells weren't ringing when a few days into reports of the virus in China, they built two whole fcking hospitals from scratch inside 2 weeks.

Someone in the powers that be should've been thinking... hmmmmm this could be serious.

I genuinely believe that many see us as better than China and that it couldn't happen here.

I think at the start many of us didn't think it would be as big as it's become, but perhaps the government should've been speaking to the CMO, the CSA and other experts back then about the repercussions for the rest of the world and therefore the UK.
 
Money Box reporting the Treasury have said that those on zero-hour contracts and GIG workers that are on PAYE will receive the 80% salary, the amount based on their wages for the month of February. And it will be back-dated from 1st March.

If this is true that's a very positive move.

It does depend on employers/contractors deciding to do it though. Lets hope so.

The point here is that capitalism is far better at creating crises than it is at resolving them.

The world will not be faced with a binary choice between unregulated capitalism, and all embracing state sponsored socialism, btw. We can have a balance, a mixed economy, a free but properly regulated market, governments that - as they are doing now - accept that they have a responsibility to protect and support their citizens.

But I've made a worse choice by switching to LBC. I really need to avoid having all things Covid 19 in my ear hole every waking hour of the day.

Yeah, maybe Mother Nature is telling us, stop ripping stuff out of the ground without putting anything back, stop cutting down forests, stop treating the Earth like some ****ers have recently been treating the shelves at Sainsbury’s.

And be nicer to each other. That’s how you’ll get through this.
