They closed the schools here only on Monday and they have decided to open them again Monday but only for the age groups that are most likely to show no symptoms and become virus spread reactors, the younger groups. 7 8 9 year olds.

This is what its like when the country you live in is run by a gang of barely 30 year old chicks.

When it was 2 cases, the government said no epidemic and not much needed to be done, now they say there is an epidemic and it cant be stopped :emoticon-0183-swear

See this where I'm not completely agreeing with school closures. Under 10's are unlikely to show symptoms but may possibily be carriers. So what do we do, we remove thousands of them from their daily confinement (except weekends) of school and place them at home - where some parents are just going to want them out the way or when the parents go to the supermarket, the kids will go, and kids will just be kids, discharging their snot and coughs all over the place and their little hands spreading it everywhere. I'm some how completely missing the logic in this. Oh and you can be damn sure some will leave them with grandparents, oh there be ok!

I've mine here since last week, the teacher has been emailing the daily schedule to parents. We go out and kick around or walk the dog, keep some distance and make sure the auld hands are well washed. Just getting to the end of the second week today and the gov opens the schools up, pretty much making the 2 weeks a waste of time.

The attitude here seems to be "we just have to manage it" not control it. Easier I suppose when its 6 million, not 60 million

On a lighter note, my lad plays for the local club, the coaches and lads that run it have been making videos for the younger kids, training schedules they can do on their own and putting them on youtube.

To be fair the United States did a good job of utilising existing manufacturing facilities to produce thousands of ships, tanks and planes
The Germans had superior tanks and more advanced planes but were overwhelmed by sheer numbers
The main difference was America paid their workers to produce whereas Russia used slave labour tactics and just shovelled the burned out workers in deep pits the results were the same just a different approach
In Britain the car industry was changed to producing tanks and planes but not on the same scale

Not long before we find out how the government intends to stop mass lay offs...

Very interested to see what’s going to be announced today.

Think of the positives . If the schools stay shut for long . The parents will discover a vaccine far quicker than the scientists .

Sunak - 80% of wages covered for every worker through a government grant for 3 months backdated to 1st March and this will likely be extended.

Limit up to £2500 per month. Employers can top that up if they can afford it.

    This is a massive move.

But the one problem with this is it is in the Employer's hands if they choose to do this.
