It's also used as a rheumatic drug (not a painkiller) so there could be any number of people on it, depending on how widely it is still used.

I'd imagine the use of that type of drug world wide would be a significant number, after reading there a bit, some sort of joint treatment, supplement treatment, not primary for patients, ironically, its usually the old that take this? and the old most at risk from the chiv

As of a week ago, not sure what the numbers are now, infections pop up in bunches, though warm weather/high humidity is meant to be more of a hindrance than cold.

Also may be relevant, I read this recently, and humidity and temperature of those places might be a factor
High Temperature and High Humidity Reduce the Transmission of COVID-19

I know a little about the drug, but as I say very little. It was initially used as said for malaria but it was found that people that took it, had reduced rheumatic pain, as with most drugs, sometimes you fall on a secondary use for it. However, it don't mean the drug would be restricted by age, because of it's many varied benefits. My pure guess is it is suppressing the auto immune system in some way...and there is something with 'flu' that attacks at the second stage, I can't remember the name for it but it contains the word 'storm' it's that second stage it suppresses...now a medical expert will come along and tell me I'm wrong <laugh>

whatever the case may be it seems there are many people who may have inadvertently buffed themselves against the chiv

a win of sorts if it somehow saves a bunch of lives, and keeps more out of hospitals and off ventilators

Even if it only helps with the milder cases, if it keeps people out of the beds for those that most need them, it's a win, win of sorts.

I honestly cant gripe, we're lucky here though Finland is hardly a travel or economic hub, if you don't buy or sell wood, you probably don't travel to Finland <laugh>

In the aftermath though, no one is escaping the economic pandemic

Wouldn't be the first drug to fight something it was never designed for, only in the last few days a second person has been "cured" of Aids by a drug created to fight cancer (the second time on record).

    Things that annoy me currently
1 People using this pandemic to push for the things they always wanted in the first place.
2 People comparing it to the flu
3 ****ers under 30 not giving a **** and going to spring break
4 People using it for partisan hackery

    It ll be massive!
**** knows how many are gonna get through it !
My daughter works for Specsavers in Edinburgh .
A girl came over from New Zealand to study and works in the shop!
Rents over £500 and theyve just cut her hours .
Stood in the shop crying like hell .
Daughter said if you are struggling just give up flat and stay with me !
Economic impact will be gigantic .
Will need war time style government borrowing and maybe future tax rises!
