It's very strange - I can't find anything relating to it anywhere in all the publicatons relating to CCFC.

It seems to be gathering momentum on other sites, but nothing on the official site or welsh news.
One piece I read said CCFC had been contacted but couldn't verify the story but were trying to find out.
Would have thought something official would be released today either way.

I have mailed Dai Sports to ask if they have had independent verification. I sincerely hope this isn't true.
I have also tweeted Terry Phillips for confirmation. However, he doesn't seem to use it much, or I'm crap on Twitter.

Thankful to read that; it was surprising nothing was on an official site.

He must be seriously injured though so fingers crossed for a recovery.

Whoever was responsible for the false rumour should make a public announcement.

    From BBC
    "
Former Cardiff City and Aston Villa midfielder Peter Whittingham is in hospital with head injuries.

The ex-England Under-21 international suffered the injuries after an "accidental" fall in a pub in Barry.

"At around 10pm on March 7, South Wales Police were called to a licensed premises in Barry," a statement read.

"A 35-year-old man from Penarth suffered a head injury as a result of a fall and remains at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff."

The South Wales Police statement continued: "At this stage there is no evidence or suggestion of a criminal act, and it appears the injury was caused by an accidental fall.

"Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of the incident."

Whittingham, started his career at Villa, where he played more than 50 league games and won 17 England Under-21 caps.

He joined Cardiff for £350,000 in 2007 and established himself as a club legend with 459 appearances and 98 goals before leaving in 2017.

Whittingham then moved to Blackburn Rovers, before leaving a year later.

But it is with Cardiff the stylish left-footed playmaker is most closely associated.

In his 10 years with the club, they reached the 2008 FA Cup final, 2012 League Cup final and won promotion to the Premier League in 2013.

Whittingham was a huge fans' favourite at Cardiff, scoring numerous spectacular long-range goals which helped earn him a place in the EFL's team of the decade for 2005-2015.

Odd that the story only surfaced in the last couple days when the incident took place on March 7th.

I thought that Remote but perhaps as he is out of the public eye his family and the club were able to keep the lid on it for a while?

Also with c virus being the main thrust of news maybe it was not considered news worthy enough until City fans heard of it?

    Fair point blue.

Just thought with it happening in Barry while watching internatonal rugby, some footy fan would have known he was there and known about the incident.
Not an issue in the bigger scheme of things.
Of greatest importance is that he makes a full recovery.
    Wishing him well.

Better late than never, and I would like to reiterate your sentiments, cling, if I may.

The epithet ' Legend ' is thrown around like confetti at a wedding, with few players really deserving the label. Whittingham certainly did. He was one of those players you wanted in your team, not the oppositions. That's just about the highest praise any player can receive.

I wish him a very speedy recovery. <peacedove>
