Also on Radio 4 this morning there was talk of cancer patients self isolating for 12 weeks........
No money coming in for months is a serious possibility.

I share your concerns regarding the financial aspect not for me but my kids who're self employed and were just making ends meet before all of this , we'll help where we can as i'm sure may other will with their kids but it is a worry all the same . Keep safe and strong and you'll get through this

My research has shown up that this Covid-19 Flu virus is far more deadly than your standard seasonal Flu, and it is killing younger patients, take for example the Italian Paramedic in his 40's, who had a massive heart attack from it and died, he was healthy with no underlying health issues, look at the reports in France of young people in their 20's hospitalized with complications, simply because of taking the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug for sports injuries, yes the mainstream media are on overkill, but I see no reason to be complacent, this Chinese Flu is a bitch, and I and my wife are in Isolation as she is in the high-risk category.

We have a district nurse coming to the house to administer EPO and collect blood samples, but I am seriously considering ending that, as the District Nurse is wearing no protection whatsoever, not only is this a risk to patients she visits, but her own health is at risk, there is far too much complacency here in Wales, in my opinion, just my observation, too late when you have to bury a loved one............ <ok>

Since coming out of hospital weeks ago with a chest infection, I have been in isolation at home.
They now say that We have to isolate again for months. ..... Next month I am due for my 3monthly jab for prostrate cancer and I am not sure if I still have to go to my health centre or not to get i, or should a district nurse give it to me at home? ...... Would it be O.K. For me to go out for a ride in my car as long as I did not leave the car , or open the window to speak to anybody? ....... it gets bloody boring to stay in the house all the time.

Great to be able to read your views here , as listening to the news on the T.V. All the time just depresses you.
Keep on with your experiences guys, ...... it would be a lonely place now without you lot.

Southampton has 25 ITU beds, high dependency around the same. There is scope to increase capacity for the needy. My wife just got in from her shift and they currently have three people in ITU with Covid 19, all three have underlying health issues. Surprise is ones a 28 year old, but has very serious health problems.

Presently the hospital is coping very well, with only a few cases, what will it be like if they fill half the bed spaces up, then they will be stretched. Guidelines for them is two nurses per patient and this is mainly down to the PPE they have to wear. They now have to wear disposable clothing so they can’t transmit the virus on the scrubs they wear normally.

I hope the financial measures they have put in place today will help everyone.

I'm not doubting you for a minute Phil and my very best wishes and positive thoughts for you and your family. but I must take hope that even though the age profile is varied , its doesn't mean that everyone will succumb to the virus because they won't regardless .You have a duty of care to your wife and if you feel that the nurse she isn't taking basic let alone significant precautions then you have every right to remind her of her responsibilities , I know I would .

I was talking to a paramedic friend today and they said last week they deep cleaned the ambulances every day and had to wear all the hazmat protective gear, but this week that's all slipped because it took to much time and interfered with dealing with people ,

Hi Victor you maybe in isolation at the moment but keep logging on here just to maintain your sanity ( I didn't think that through did I)
I visited my mum today whos 89 and ok with her full facilities but I did pre-empt the topic of what happens should we no longer be able to visit her , I'm torn between being cruel to be kind in as much if shes isolation that lowers the risk of her catching the bloody thing and maintaining her sanity.
I couldn't tell you what do regarding driving around , myself I probably would as long i wasn't going to put myself and others at risk that I'm afraid has to be your call ,spring is coming and this rain can't last for ever so hopefully with the prospect of a bit of decent weather that may go some way to cheer us up

Thanks, Matt the issue is going to be raised tomorrow, who would have thought that a little bacteria would have brought Capitalism to its knees!......<ok>
 
Victor apparently the powers that be have said that over 70s should self isolate but can go for walks as long as they do not congregate so I would thin’ going for a drive in your car would be safe as l9ng as you are not stuck in a traffic jam which again would now seem to be unlikely. Keep safe and remember Iceland are giving OAPs early opening hour slots just for them to save having to put up with the pricks of our society that are bulk buying and will probably dispose of stale food in the coming months.

Here in Germany all schools are closed and all non-essential shops are also closed. Travel is discouraged. Shops all have most things except for toilet paper and liquid soaps etc. Fresh food runs out occasionally.....but who buys fresh food in bulk, I can't imagine!!!. But Germans panic buy if there is a Bank Holiday anyway.
Victor, I am sure you'd be fine having a bit of a drive. The main aim is not to spread the virus but you don't have it and the only risk is that you catch it and bring it home. Wash your hands well and keep your distance and you'll be fine. My missus works for a French company and they have been warned not to go running together. But I guess that won't be something you are desperate to do?
