tell that to the thousands who rely on it as a career and an industry.

same as every other industry nass , the horses can still be looked after , the owners can pay the bills , the prize money will be on hold , but like football , it’s not a life or death situation is it ?

without the betting industry the sport will die, it’s as simple as that with how racing in the UK is funded. The turnover from racing daily is what keeps a lot of people in work. It’s not like football in the way it’s funded and run.

it might not be a serious thing for the punters but those involved work wise at yards will be thinking very differently.

if racing stops and for a period of a month or two then people will lose jobs and businesses. It’s like all other industries that is the issue!

same rationale that I can’t see factories closing.

That is the other difference between racing and other sporting events. If one yard has to stop having runners due to the illness, it doesn’t mean that fixtures can’t go ahead.

I expect BHA will do everything possible to keep racing going, probably behind closed doors, and try to minimise the impact of the virus on the economy of the sport.

My little share in a horse is heading the five hours up to Kelso tomorrow to run behind closed doors. Owners can apply for entry currently at the Scottish tracks but it’s on a first come first served basis until the 500 people limit is hit.

Ok, so my views on tomorrow -

Project Mars on form is the most likely winner, but the price is too short for a horse who is rated 100.

Proper Ticket is a mare that I've been waiting to see in handicaps, she has been chasing some decent mares recently and I think she is likely to go well tomorrow.

Little Rory Mac in the first is intriguing, as many of you know, the previous owner got into some trouble with his antics when this won its penultimate start, and it was then given an interesting last run for those connections!! Tomorrow it starts for Foxtrot Racing, who picked it up cheaply and have been impressed by him. It is interesting that they are going novice hurdles first, given that his handicap mark looks exploitable. One to watch for certain.

My only other horse from the tracker is unfortunately the horse Stick has just put up. Sastruga in the 3:20 - given that money is around for it, that makes it even more interesting! if that continues tomorrow then we can expect another big showing from it.

3:00 Southwell - Gregarious 11/2 Win only. There's been a bit of money around already for this one. I've provably given it more chances than I should have but it's definitely due. Today it gets its last chance from me.

Just enjoy rudey. This is a big opportunity for racing to put itself in the shop window. I’ve heard it’s going to continue behind closed doors. With no sport on it’s got a captive audience. Unfortunately the ptp season has been abandoned.

2 now NR. Looks like a remake of that Irish plot that was made into a film with Pierce Brosnan.
