Liverpool are still likely to be crowned Premier League champions, even if the coronavirus crisis causes the season to be abandoned. (Telegraph)

With 9 games to go, if that’s the case...it will never quite feel like a ‘proper’ Title win

We can still Bantz and make Pool fans cry about it <party>

It won’t be a proper title win. That’s indisputable.

If they give it to us I'd take that and consider it a proper win as nobody is going to catch us and if we play the games we WILL win it. If there wasn't a lot in it then yeah your points would stand.

The bantz wont be that good IF they give it to us as it would be deserved.

Winning an incomplete season would be lame. You’ll probably end up crowdfunding a medal for Gerrard.

One solution could be that Liverpool are awarded a special merit trophy for leading the league when it was called off. The fans could then celebrate the fact that they’re the only club in English football history to win the special trophy. When the virus is sorted the team could do an open top bus parade with the words “We’re Special” inscribed on the side of the bus.

Seems like what the powers that be want is to cancel the season, give Liverpool the title and scrap the relegation side whilst the European spots go to the ones from last season.
Hmm wonder who the only two teams screwed over there are......

That would be the mother of all fudges and suggests that the authorities think that multiple clubs whining would be easier to deal with than Liverpool whining. They’re almost certainly right.

So we get the title and Utd play in the Eastern European Fake Grass Trophy again. Now we're talking.

It’d be bullshit and clear favouritism of the ‘sky 6’. The issue with calling the season at a end with current positions is mainly the relegated sides but also Man Utd who in good form can fairly say they have a good chance of overhauling Chelsea and maybe Leicester. I’m not sure how it is any fairer to penalise Leicester and Sheff Utd...
If, the season can’t carry on after the next few weeks, the only two options are surely to finish the season when possible and start next season later and adapt it accordingly (cancel cups etc) or call the season now, and now have relegation, bring the top two up and have a bigger league to level things out again.
The Qatar world cup in the winter could help as we could potentially finish this season and play one more and finish that in time for the WC. Not sure really

It's difficult to be fair to everyone, I think games behind closed doors would be sensible and a way of getting this done.

Yeah, scrap the euros and start next season late, scrap next seasons cups or whatever, completions that haven’t started anyway, but to get 29 games into a 38 game season to finish it is the only way

The PL will be scrapped absolutely. The security resources required for all of these remaining games will put too much strain on the services if we pull an entire month out of the calendar.

Liverpool fans should prepare themselves for a massive kick in the bollocks here, and the rest of us will have to like it or lump it for CL places etc. The fact is that lives are more important than trophies and stats about how many duals Jordan Henderson won against Bournemouth.

Look at next season and maybe scrap replays in the FA Cup, remove European qualified teams from the League Cup so that there are less games.

Even if you get rid of the FA & League Cup for a season, I can't see how you are going to fit all the games in. My team, with the absence of Bury (-2) have nine games left to play. Even if you force them to place 2 games per week, that's going to take 5 weeks to clear. That's not counting any potential play-off places, which add another 3 games! More realistically you are looking at another 2 months of fixtures - most lower league teams wouldn't play more than 4 cup games in total in a season, not counting any lower league level trophies.

So if you restart the fixtures in August, it's going to be November at the earliest you can start the new season, weather permitting. Then people will be moaning they've not had a break, between the two seasons, ffs they made enough fuss over the winter break! (Klopp).
