The worry as I see it is the fact that 10% of all cases require a respirator to keep the patient alive until they recover. The shortage of availability is probably the key to the high death rate in Wuhan.

If the spread is managed then healthcare systems will be able to ensure 99% of those infected survive. If the system is overloaded then the death rate rockets.

The number of cases per day is rising at a rate of 50%. If this keeps up the UK is looking at 300,000 cases within 5 weeks and at least 3000 dead.

It's important that this illness is slowed to ensure the only deaths are those that are unavoidable.

I admit that I thought it was all a bit hysterical to begin with but I know a few GPs, some who were equally apathetic when it all kicked off, but they’re all saying it’s going to get quite messy. The stock market is definitely pessimistic!

If you're over 70 with existing health issues how much more do you want the country to bend over backwards and sacrifice everyone's quality of life just to very slightly extend your life while young people are already poorer than ever before?

Presumably you don’t have elderly parents? I don’t want my mum (85) or my dad (89) to live for ever, I just don’t want them dying in a hospital corridor waiting for beds, because all the hospitals are overwhelmed.

That is already happening. Nothing to do with coronavirus.

This is what the country voted for. Tories to cut NHS beds and [HASHTAG]#brexit[/HASHTAG] to send non-British nurses "home". Plus massive cuts to ("unskilled") care workers to make sure those beds are already full with elderly people who just need some help taking care of themselves.
