Nah because technically it is not a transfer ban as such.
A governing body cannot tell a business that it is unable to recruit people.
What that governing body does have the power to do is limit the players that said business (Chelsea) can register to take part in its competitions.
So effectively it is a transfer ban because no player is going to sign for a team that he cannot play for, but we can still technically sign players, we just cannot register them in to our match day squads.

Thats why there was a loophole that enabled us to sign Kovacic. Because he was already registered with the PL as part of the Chelsea squad, so technically we weren't registering a "new" player. If it was a transfer ban we wouldnt have been able to sign Kovacic permanently last summer, or Sell Hazard to Real Madrid.

Yes, I get that mate.

We would not have been able to register new additions until the summer.

So, imo, great we got ban lifted; signed, registered Hakim in jan rather than wait til July.

We could have registered him as a chelsea player with or without the ban.

We just couldnt register him to play in any games (other than friendlies) until July when the ban was lifted.
But he isnt going to be playing for us until July anyway, so the ban had no bearing on signing him

Are you 100 per cent sure on this?

I thought if you were banned, you could sign but not register players
Yes we could sign Ziyech, so he would be a Chelsea player, but we wouldnt be able to register him as part of our squad.
But we havent registered him as part of our squad, because he is still at Ajax.

Yes a million percent.

The PL, FA, UEFA or whoever, could not legally stop us from hiring anyone as an employee, by law.
All they can control is who they allow us to use in their competitions.

Yes this is how I understood the rules.

Are you 100 per cent sure we were allowed to register new players for friendlies under the transfer ban?

Isn't this what we kinda got banned for in first place: playing kids in organised matches <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Actually I am not 100% sure on the friendlies bit.
If the friendly was under the jurisdiction of UEFA, then that might cause issues.

It doesnt really matter, a player still isnt going to sign for a club if they can only play in friendlies anyway, so its a bit moot.

Yes, agree.

Shame Hakim would not move in Jan. With Puli and CHO out, he really would have helped our push for top 4

Do Liverpool panic buy players in Jan or target players for long term?
Under Klopp they don't panic buy, but they already have who they need because they planned for it and did things the correct way over a period of time. They also stuck with their Manager through a rough couple of years. Next season no doubt they will again get in a few players and sell off or lose a few. What they won't do is miss out .
We're on the right track as well by finally using our young talent and identifying and getting the FEW mega players to bring us up a level . Ziyech was a great start, now let's see if we get who we want. Staying in the CL will be a factor for who will come, and if we do as I hope get top 4, then it will be that bit easier. Fortunately we are not alone in struggling for form and with injured people returning, should be able to lift our act.

Of course it helps, but Hakim signed for Chelsea without a guarantee of CL. And Fernandes signed for United without CL footie.

16/17 we got Kante Luiz Alonso Bats without CL footie and won league
18/19 We got Kova Kepa Jorghino without CL footie

Premier League, ££££ and London is as big a pull as CL.
Hope you're right !!
Did you get to the Liverpool game? Watched it here early morning, looked a cracking match. How good is that Billy Gilmour ?? Also credit to those players we have all bagged most of the year, Alonso, Barkley, Pedro, Willian, Giroud, all looked supercharged. Zouma and Rudi put in as did Dave, Kepa was miles better. Great to see the speed and energy back, and though it wasn't the best Liverpool 11, you can only beat what's in front of you, and we looks like did that with some style.

If we'd signed a CM in January, would BG have played last night? No.

That's why I was against buying players in January (unless they are real quality like Hernandes and hopefully Ziyech)

Where did you hear Isco wanted to come to Chelsea?

Would rather see Mount play there than Isco anyway
Lighten up, it's just a joke, though we were apparently looking at Isco. I'd like to see Mount play a bit more centrally in behind the striker, with Kante plus 1 other (hopefully Gilmour into the future), in a midfield pair behind him, and 2 up front. Giroud looks as if he's recovered his ability to head balls down to an attacker, but often there's no one there to get on to them.

Sounds very narrow mate, I like width.

If you are playing two up top behind a midfield three then you only have enough players for three at the back.

That means wingbacks.... so Pulisic and Hakim would have to rotate with Mount at no 10. Plus Reuben too. We really don't need another midfielder then, as Kante, Gilmour, Kova and Jorg fill midfield spots. Plus Barkley too
