How can a player pass a medical then not get past 20 mins in a game. Tan should ask colin for a refund!
With his injury record, signing him was always a risk - and looks like another big mistake by Colin. Moral of the story, as proved in several signings, don't let Colin near a cheque book. Feel sorry for Vassell though. This could be career ending.
Sometimes injured players can work out (Paterson being a case in point). What I am impressed with though is Harris being there to watch and showing the concern he has for Vassell. Not sure how often Warnock used to go watch the reserves rather than relying on his staff to report in, but I can't imagine him reacting quite as well or caring as this!
I bet the club's insurers would like to know about that as well. From what I understand, they pick up a proportion of a player's contracted wages if declared medically unfit to play. They may have a case to deny obligation if it was found there was any pushing through of the transfer in spite of doubt as to his condition.
I'm looking forward to the summer to see who Harris can attract. It's certain we need to offload massively this summer and free up some of the dead weight and huge wages some of these players carry! I feel so bad for Vassell, his frustration shows how much he wanted to be back in contention asap, however, with his legs the way they are, we have to look at moving him on sooner rather than later.
Unlikely anyone would want him until 100% long term fitness confirmed. More likely we will pay him off - another one of many. Just shows how flawed our transfer policy has been since Malky's days.
