Jeez RSS that was a close one.

Never reckoned I'd be rooting for Liverpool at any time this season, quite the opposite, but the thought of the dildo brothers and that detestable bunch of cockney spivs doing them over would be a real sickener. Hopefully they've taken it badly.

I'm really looking forward to Saturday now.

Just had a look at the w/e fixtures for the teams two above and two below the drop line.

16 Bournemouth 26pts v Chelsea
17 Villa 25pts have no epl match this w/e but their next league match is away to Leicester

18 West Ham 24pts v Saints
19 Watford 24pts v Liverpool

Looks like West Ham have the easiest game

I have a slight soft spot for WHU as SFC joined them in promotion, and they contributed to a marvellous atmosphere at SMS that season in SFC's 1-0 win. That night, Lambert was awesome and scared the WHU defence to death. The whole SFC team and crowd were great that night. That night ranks as oñe of the best footballing experiences I have ever had.

I used to like WHU before the nastiness that is Sullivan, Gold and Brady got their claws into the club and they were gifted a massive stadium for next to nothing. Plus they have that absolute tosser Noble playing for them.
Back in the day of Frank Lampard (senior), Mervyn Day, Billy Bonds and even the masterful trio of Moore, Peters and Hurst they were a club to be admired. Now they’re tainted and I, for one, can’t wait for them to go down.

Worst owners in the league who have completely ripped the soul out of that club.

I can see where you are coming from with that angle - current ownership and acquiring the stadium. I was thinking back to reasons why WHU are in any way likeable, and indeed you highlighted the positive aspects.

Now I need to think is there anything likeable about Manchester United and Glasgow Rangers?

The fact that Rangers aren't Celtic is pretty likeable tbf.

It is funny reading some of the negative thoughts about West Ham because I have always thought that they had the reputation of being everyone's second favourite club. Part of this stems from the comment about West Ham winning the World Cup in 1966 but I think there is probably a generation of fans like myself who grew up thinking West Ham meant John Lyall and Sir Trevor Brooking. It is fair to say that their fan base probably did a lot of discourage a lot of genuine football fans I the late 70s and early 80s yet I think West Ham always seem to have been a "footballing" team to the extent that Allardyce's appointment seemed totally against the grain.

I do feel against certain London clubs but maybe more directed at Tottenham (who have always seemed to steal our managers) and the more cosmopolitan Arsenal who seem to have enjoyed a massive following in France when these plastic supporters would have done better to support their local teams. I have lost count of how many times I have got in to conversation with the locals in an attempt to improve my French and learn something about football in that country, only to find they support Arsenal. At least West Ham fans seem genuine and are more likely to be from the club's area whereas Arsenal seem to lack a regional identity whatsoever in my opinion. I blame Wenger. Although I am very much a Francophile. Wenger's lack of irony and aloof personality helped distil a sense of entitlement which seems slightly Un-English. They are a team without humility who have long since shed their reputation of being a team consisting of the cream of Scottish and Irish talent. I do not know what Arsenal represent. Surely there is more to dislike there than with the hapless Hammers ?

Whilst I perceive West Ham as being the kind of pet dog everyone feels inclined to pat, even if there is a risk of being bitten, at least it is an English variety.
