Can see us just about to get promotion, when they stop the season. Italian games stopped already, can see the rugby going next week, only a matter of time till it gets out of control here, 3 schools around Cheshire telling kids to self isolate after coming back from infection areas in Italy.
Whereas the self isolate thing is a help, its only a drop in the ocean. Simple example here, an Italian fast food outlet owner customer of mine rang me yesterday, informs me he's just back in Ireland a few days from Italy from visiting family. Ive no idea if was in the infected area, but if it was, he's already infected hundreds here and is cooking food in his restaurant. How can authorities stop the spread of it? Answer, they cant
Just one of the reasons why self isolation won’t work by the time you realise you may have it to then self isolate is already too late
I thought Corona made big bottles of fizzy drinks. As a kid I used to raid bins and the crates behind shops to get bottles to return and get the deposit back. It paid for smokes back then.
I've not taken much notice of it so far. Is there a jab for it yet? If not, how long will it be? Isn't it just like a common chest cough/cold? Is it mainly affecting the very young, the old and/or the weak?
Well the death rate in China is about 3x that of flu, but if Irans figures are right, it's killing 20% there
Usually takes about a year for a vaccine like most of these flu variants they tend to take out the old and the very young. Most of the deaths with corona are male 60+ with some underlying health problem. So, it has the same target demographic as not606.
Interesting question, Emu. I have wondered the same thing, but they don't give out details. As I understand it, and this is only from press reports, the disease is akin to flu but CAN be more serious. Apparently pneumonia is the biggest threat, but I suspect that pneumonia can aslo be a side effect of Influenza if it gets bad enough. So, just how serious is this virus? Thus far there have been, what, some two or three thousand deaths worldwide, in a population of seven and a half billion?
I thought it was lemon slices they added, but anyway ****ers all the same. More people die of flu than this anyway. Thank **** it doesnt spread by the internet all the social bollox sites are loving the panic.
I may be wrong (unlikely) but I agree with you, it's panic brought on by he media and to some extent, the internet.
The vast majority of deaths have been elderly and smokers have been most at risk in China so as long as you’re outside those two groups, risk of death appears low. Mind you, I’d prefer not to find out
I think the concern is it may be hard to stop spreading. At the moment it’s nearly 3 thousand deaths on 80k cases so about 3% death rate. I don’t fancy getting something that has a 3% chance of death, speaking personally, especially as I’m a geriatric wreck. Speaking globally, it’s features mean it’s hard to contain, if it went the same as Spanish flu 100 years ago then we could have billions of cases. A billion cases might mean 30m deaths. I suspect also that in some countries they just won’t have the medical infrastructure and the 3% will be higher. So I can see why it’s more than a media panic to sell papers.
My son only recently told me the original reason for the lime on the neck of Mexican beer. You aware?
I hear what you say but look at this if this is not a headline to sell more papers I don’t know what is
