Would you be trusting enough of that persons word to give me £1000 so I could bet on it and if it comes in you get your money back?

Mate, it's the Middle East. Most of it is half truths. It's summed up best by the word 'inshallah' - if God wills it - which is used in high level business as much as talking about the weather. "Will it be nice this weekend?", "When can we expect payment of that invoice?", "Is PIF buying Newcastle?".

"Inshallah".

All I know is he wouldn't lie about what he heard. He wouldn't have said "they're buying your team" if he hadn't asked. But Mike Ashley is the constant.

Taken from Twitter, but sadly believable: Allegedly, Ashley pulled his famous "move the goalposts" trick that's served him so well, Saudi's think he's taking the piss/acting disrespectfully (see 2008 for more details). Saudi's want Staveley to produce a final price, Ashley only wants to deal with "the money men". Stalemate. Just repeating a feasible rumour, happy to be shot down.

Out of interest who on Twitter has said this? Anyone reputable?

It's happening but as usual people expect it to happen over night.

Take months to buy a £250000 house let alone a £340000000 entity

I've said this before on this. People pay no attention.

We, the fans, have invented deadlines for this deal. We are telling ourselves it HAS to be done by today at exactly 20:25 or it's off. Then we rage uncontrollably on here, then a single Twitter exchange takes place and we set ourselves a new deadline.

Nothing official has been said at ALL. I would say at Newcastle only Ashley knows everything, Charnley knows a bit. Not a single leak is gonna come from the club.

The leak likely came from PCP, as per, and as far as we know it's trucking a long as expected.

Investing in a foreign country is firstly massive, especially considering the Saudi reputation, secondly committing to the long term purchase of a club in a major UK city is even more serious. This is a massive commitment they're getting themselves in for, they will have MPs watching, the PL, UEFA, even the government. A massive part of the commons hates Saudi Arabia.

This is an intensely complex arrangement, it will take time.
