Anyone who does get up there might like to visit the pitcher and piano on high pavement. Simply put it’s the most stunning boozery ive ever supped in in this this country.
On the away circuit Kelham Island in Sheffield is decent. The Shakespeare Kelham Island Tavern The Fat Cat Then after this little crawl, the New Barrack Tavern. Guess where I'll be drinking on the 26th February
Some time shortly after Paul McCartney had a hit with it, I would guess. End of the '70's? 'Valley Floyd Road' is an institution with the fans now, I accept that. But the tune being borrowed from one of the corniest old bits of sentimental tat that Macca ever came out with (and sentimental tat was something he excelled at) is just embarrassing to me, and always will be. Fortunately by now, most fans under 40 probably aren't even aware of the original chart-topping ditty.
Forest sing it about 2 minutes before the kick off, hairs on the back of your next stuff. It absolutely ruins YNWA by the mickies.
If you say so. I've never been there. Never been to Anfield either. My favourite chant recently was the one about being f**king dynamite now we've got Lee Bowyer. But I understand we pinched the tune for that from somebody else. Do the home fans still sing it? (this is an open question). I've missed a few home games recently, but I don't really recall hearing it the last few times I was there.
We really are not a team that does away games, and Forest are a tidy outfit. I'm going to go for a formbook upset for this one - a cheeky 1-0 away win, despite the state of our defence. I'll hope that Naby at the back, with his fan club willing him on, will do what we have done so rarely this term, and get us a clean sheet. But I have to admit saturday sank me a little. The one thing I rarely expect from a Bowyer team is that they are overrun, but the 1-1 half time scoreline sounded as if it flattered us, and the second half was worse. We badly need a performance as much as points - the Barnsely win is now being reviewed given the way we were pushed back in the second half. We need to open the opposition up a bit - inviting them onto us in our current form is simply to give them goals. It's gonna be fraught.
I hope the trains are okay, this may be my last away of the season. I expect a better performance than Saturday, maybe even a point or three, as long as we're not too passive.
Well Matt sounds full of beans and up for the challenge. Good for him I doubt if confidence is quite as high among LB and the players, but that's only to be expected. The couple of home wins since Christmas will have felt good, but if Forest are on their game this evening we could get a merciless hiding. Even a defeat could be regarded as a result if it's only by the odd goal. What we really don't need is a double figure minus GD.
#Lardi, if we'd got a thrashing every time you expected one our goal difference would be astronomically minus. I honestly don't know why I feel optimistic about this game. Maybe because we played so well against them last time, despite a rather unlucky draw. I really hope Bowyer finds a place for Doughty in the team. His energy makes a difference.
