this weekend against Leicester at Millers expense. Miller puts in a shift I will give him that but Earnie/Miller isnt really working, it may come good but we have not got time to find out, it could be another 10 games before these 2 click if they do at all. Not saying Miller is a bad player but at the moment Earnie looks like the more likely to put the ball in the net and Gestade hasnt really put a foot wrong when given a chance. So come on Malky give these 2 a chance, I know Millers a fellow Scot but we had enough of DJ's stubborness with Naylor.
Earny has three league goals to Millers one, and seeing Gestade's performance last night; MM should be choosing Earny or Miller around him. Preferably Earny.
Rudy did great yesterday , but he looked to be struggling toward the end, perhaps he isn't ready for a full 90 minutes? Bring him on as an impact player for 30 minutes or so, it worked well last night
Sorry but i have to disagree with that, After watching Earnie's performance last night i must say i prefer Miller playing upfront. Earnie is a goal getter but he doesnt have the same movement and work rate as Miller and a few times last night, looked very static and sometimes very selfish in possesion of the ball, always looking to shoot when a pass was a better option.
Unlike Miller who cant hit the net when he's 1 on 1 with the keeper, saying that im remembering Earnies miss for Wales Still prefer Earnie up front to Miller, regardless of his work rate he only has 1 goal in 7 league games this season, not good enough from a so called prolific goal scorer.
Rudy must surely play a part on Sunday, the only question is whether he should start or come on after an hour or so. If he can't put in a 90 minute shift just yet, he could be used to do either with Miller or Earnie alongside him. That means one of those two will be benched if he starts. Possibly better to start with both Earnie and Miller which seems to be Malky's preferred way, then bring Rudy into the game later. That way Malky will have a choice of which frontman to pull off when it's time. Let's hope he makes the right choice if that happens.
It's quite hard to say which of the two should start. Earnie has scored more so far but in all fairness, they were from his positioning more than anything else. Miller in my opinion has started to look like a better player recently and he can also score, he hasn't had many chances in the games that he has played in. Almost think that it is a case of give them a game each with Gestede to see who works better with him...
Agreed - play them off against each other. Far more incentive to bang in the goals if they know they can't both start.
Gestede was very good last night - but hobbled through the last half hour. He was totally knackered and collapsing with cramp - I can't see him starting on Sunday for this reason.
Watching last night the idea of playing just Earnie is not something I'd look forward to. He sniffs out those 4 yard tap ins and is a slightly better finisher than Miller, but the rest of his game is no where near as good. Earnie is an impact sub imo, Rudy could replace Miller as a lone front man but not after the effort he put in on Wednesday.
I would like to see Gestade/Earnshaw. Miller will play a role throughout the season and we need another striker on loan. I would never start Earnie by himslef, but as said with a strike partner Earnie just needs one or two chances and he can net a winner for us. Gestade just needs to play. i think he can be an excelletn player and the more game time he gets the better!
Rudy and Miller to start with earnie on for Rudy after an hour. We keep saying its a squad game and not necessarily over the season, but over a game. Earnie will do more damage against tired legs than the other two who may be better placed doing the tiring.
Agreed 100% on Rudy, but the Rudy Earnie partnership really didn't look the part at all on Wednesday and that wasn't Rudy's fault imo.
