Two confirmed cases in the UK. The patients have been picked up in Yorkshire and brought to a special unit in Newcastle to be cared for.

This is just the start. I'm sure there will be more.

From what I've read, scientists in this country have developed a vaccine, but it's not fully tested yet.
Germany has just confirmed that there are cases in that country that have been passed on from human to human before anybody knew they had the virus. I know America are hoping to win the race to release a new vaccine by the summer after it goes through testing.

We’ll be fine. If it gets a foothold in Africa it will rip right throughout the continent.

I'm sure China will get more European visitors than African, so that's a blessing. But you're right mate, if it breaks out in Africa, it'll spread like the plague.

I'm sure your sort will be gutted were that to happen.

To put the problem into context, China’s statistics show just over 2% of infected people have died, suggesting the virus is less deadly than the 2002-2003 outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) or The Ebola outbreak.

The current deaths figure from China was reported on last nights BBC News at around 1200.

But none of this is of any comfort to the victims.

Another statistic I came across that gives context, but no comfort, was, ----

According to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries caused an estimated 1.35 million deaths worldwide in the year 2016

The Chinese have been subjected to a bit abuse internationally for being disease ridden, eating muck and not doing enough to stop it spreading but I think they've been tremendous.

Knocking up hospitals in 48 hours, enforcing strict curfews in locked down areas and doing a lot of the research into the virus itself.

Great bunch of lads.

Areas? 56 million people don't like this

Do you think that decent compassionate people have a right to be concerned by this virus, both on our own nearest and dearest and those less fortunate, who dont have access to world class health services?
Or should we be like those who lack any decency and compassion and be concerned only for white english speaking caucasians who live within a 10 mile radius?
Is showing concern for all who might suffer, for snowflakes?
Being a normal person I think it is tragic that we see pictures of dead victims lying in the main street of Wuhan.
What a world we live in.
