Good Morning. It's Thursday 30th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Manchester United tried to hijack the Jean-Kevin Augustin deal at the 11th hour - and failed

According to Phil Hay, Manchester United tried to hijack the Jean-Kevin Augustin at the 11th hour, but were unsuccessful.

Senior delegates from Old Toile...., erm, I mean Old Trafford spent most of Sunday trying to convince the 22yo to join the Red of Lancashire. Fortunately for Leeds, a lack of disorganisation from the Reds hierarchy along with the lateness of the approach, led Augustin to complete his medical at Thorp Arch 24 hours later.

You'll all recall how this time last year we were screwed over by Swansea regarding Daniel James. Obviously, he went on to join to join the Red side of Manchester, and become one of their stand out players of the season. Perhaps Solskjaer only wanted Augustin because Bielsa wanted him?

Odds narrow further on Leeds promotion

Following Bielsa's recent signings and their win midweek over Millwall, bookies have slashed their odds even further on seeing the Whites promoted to the Premiership.

Today, if you placed £100 on seeing Bielsa's team reach the Promised land, you would win just over £7.

Which other two teams besides Leeds of course would you like to see go up?

Robbo - The way the players salaries are structured is unsustainable

Following Leeds win over South London rivals Millwall midweek, former Leeds and England Keeper Paul Robinson has been speaking to Sky Sports about their promotion push. The 40yo who picked up 41 caps for his Country believes this season is make or break for Bielsa's side.

"There has been a bit of unrest and nervousness around Elland Road because Leeds have to go up this season. This is the season that club is geared to go up,"

"The expectations at that club are phenomenal. The away support that Leeds take to games is immense and with that comes expectation. The price of getting out the Championship is huge.

"They have to go up this year because the way the players' salaries are structured, the manager's salaries are structured it is unsustainable to maintain that as it is if they don't go up this year."

Robbo's comments come after Leeds Managing Director Angus Kinnear revealed in Tuesday's program notes that Radrizzani pays 1m each month towards Leeds wage bill.

Morning Elland and all my fellow 606ers. I don't know who I'd like to go up with us TBH because I've a grudge against most of the sides over the many years I've supported the team. Maybe Fulham (kills me saying that about a Southern side) but they are probably the least offensive to me.
I really hope we hammer Wigan because I've not forgotten them beating us last season. I'm still buzzing after the wallies result. (the match I was meant to be attending on the original date before the FA cup ****ed my plans up. The result was all the more better because we were playing the ref as well, the wallies went two up and we showed true bottle and the fact that the wallies were on a great run and heading for a playoff spot. <ok>

Good Morning All...

In regards to sustainable wages, I’m pretty sure this is Radz last roll of the dice before selling us to someone with more money. It just depends if he sells us as a PL club or Championship. He might fancy one year as a PL club owner before selling, either way I feel he is lining up the buyers.

Augustin has been very “Leeds” active on Twitter, mocking the time wasting by the Millwall keeper and soaking up the Leeds love. I’m glad we’ve got him, I just don’t believe he would be willing to sit on the bench for too long. I’m hoping it doesn’t end in unrest and tears. He is certainly more of a “character” than Nketiah, can Bielsa handle that if he is.

Highly unlikely but I’d like Preston to go up, I like their manager

That's the problem Ristac keeping him happy. Its all new and fresh now and he's buzzing, but if he's stuck on the bench that mood could change. But let's not dwell too much on that and lets see how he gets on. I'm actually more looking forward to the ex man city player. Apparently in training he's quick...<ok>

Controversial but I want Wednesday to go up if we went up. Or Hull, Preston. Any Northern club really. The money that is pumped in to the area as a byproduct of PL football is huge and us Northerners need our towns and cities awash with as much income as we can get.

Come on you dirty Northern bastards. Let's dominate the PL.

Good Morning to Matt and co froma dull Bardsey
The club state he is funding the club by 1£m a month but what has he done with all the players he sold where has that money gone I wonder
Seems we have to play the refs as well The linesman needs to go to spec savers if he couldn't see the ball out of play before they got a penalty
Not sure who I want to go up with us lets get there first!

Mentioned last season about the coin/bottle throwing from the South Stand and how it could potentially cause us problems. Now it would appear the East Stand can't control themselves either.

Whilst I can very much empathize with the depth of feeling these supporters had it's totally unacceptable and they should be banned...sorry if that upsets some of you but there is no justification for throwing objects at players or officials.

Do what all around me did and hurl abuse and chant at the incompetent individuals...non of it was homophobic or racist etc just good old fashioned and totally warranted abuse.

I've never thrown anything onto the pitch personally, but I can understand why supporters do it. I suppose it's better than running on and assaulting the players. Sometimes it's the actions of inept match officials or the overdone celebrations of opposition players that wind supporters up. I love the craic in the Southstand though. The only thing the West standers might throw are their jewelry or Champagne :emoticon-0136-giggl:emoticon-0105-wink:

Agree 100%. Can do nothing except damage the clubs image which in turn impacts sponsorship deals etc and could ultimately lead to fines or worse

They are all a bunch of morons as I know to my cost

Morning all. Doesn’t take Robbie to tell us this is make or break season. Only the most deluded would claim otherwise. Was watching sky transfer thing last night and noticed our main competitors doing a fair bit of transfer activity. Have no idea about any of them but if any of them pick up a couple of gems it may be enough to put together a winning run like Fulham a few years ago. We need to reproduce that Milwall second half on at least ten more occasions to ensure promotion.

I can't afford to throw coins at players. They earn enough!
