ESI are relying on there being three teams worse than us. Tonight’s results show how risky that strategy is.
We're in the sh*t now. We MUST beat Barnsley - whether or not we have any new players. If Southall welches on his commitment to back Bowyer, I reckon we are now an even bet to go down. Even a win over Barnsley will only buy us a little time.
We need to pick up 12 points this month as a minimum or we are screwed and they need to be points from teams around us in the table for them to count
Is anyone actually really worried about this situation? I’m fairly relaxed after the window closed. We have goals in us now Lyle is back and looking at those around us I feel there are a lot worse than us. If Lyle gets injured again there will be issues but if not we are good to go.
The key trio to keep fit for the remaining games are- Cullen (defensive work rate) Williams (creative quality) Taylor (goals) If these three play the majority of the remaining games together, we’ve got enough to finish half way up the league.
The tables don't lie, we're in a scrap. If the new signings are OK and if we avoid another injury crisis we should avoid the drop, but usually other teams at the bottom start winning, and at least another one from higher up will get sucked in. Saturday could have gone differently if Barnsley hadn't hit the woodwork 3 times and Phillips hadn't made a worldy. We need quality on the bench, that's the key.
Quite a few of our squad have got it all to prove if they want to stay beyond this summer - Hemed Oztumer Purrington Aneke Solly Maybe even Pearce. They have all struggled in the Championship for various reasons. A lesson to be learned from last summer is that you are better off at this level investing in one quality player like Andre Green than 3/4 gambles from the lower leagues.
