I think only an oldster may know the answer to.

In the earl;y '60s I purchased a 45 (on Columbia) called 'Eugene' but I can't remember who the band (or singer) was.

The only clues I can offer are:

a) The singer was female

&

b) The opening lines of the song (after a 'twangy' guitar intro) were "Eugene my pet let's forgive and forget"

I've tried 'Googling' without any success so any help would be gratefully received.

It's been doing my head in for a number of years.

I remember this classic from my parents collection from when I was a bairn..

That's it!! :1980_boogie_down:Many thanks.

Interestingly (I think) once I had the band name I ran a search and around the same time as they were signed up by Columbia another bunch of unknowns were rejected by them.

The band rejected were The Beatles!!

That seems to be it, Owld Fella . . . . well played, Sandy, but it's blinking terrible (what a screechy voice) :emoticon-0105-wink:

What made you want to hear that again :emoticon-0112-wonde

She may sing in too high a pitch for your taste BUT she can go smoothly up and down scales without a problem and hold her notes brilliantly.
