That's pretty much my view. We seem to think long high balls lumped up to the forwards are the way to go against Rangers when we never play like that against anyone else. It's extremely frustrating.
One thing I've just realised is that Rangers front line yesterday cost £9.5m. Not making an excuse but it just shows how much money they've spent up front. Jelavic - £4m Lafftery - £3.5m Naismith - £2m Still doesn't excuse us for playing so poorly as we managed to beat them last year when they had those players.
Nah, RL, I don't think we should. You still haven't said who you thought we should get instead of Lenny. Never mind if this guy could re-build a team so quickly getting Kayal, Izzaguire, Hooper etc for buttons. Lennon got it wrong yesterday - on Friday I forecasted that but I also forecast that we won't lose another Old Firm game all season - I'm sticking by it and I'm sticking by Lennon.
please log in to view this image . I hope Im wrong , but theres very little evidence to suggest otherwise. who would I get ? thats up to the board and what they can offer.
I still think Lennon's done a brilliant job - lost the league by a point, lost the league cup by the width of a post in extra time and won the cup. All of that by rebuilding the shambles that Mowbray left. The formation yesterday was sadly predictable, granted, but there's near enough a whole season ahead
just dont see where the confidence in future OF games comes from ; track record of to many bad choices I think. anyway , bed time for me ,
Fair dues - night night RL We'll play with two strikers and no Samaras in future old firm games and, hopefully, two out of our five puddings at CB will make a half-decent pairing at some point. Also, Commons needs to improve and give the team the fluency he had at times last season. We were outplayed yesterday at Ibrox and still scored two goals with our top scorer on the bench. The second half was awful but it won't happen again this season - I'm sure of it.
I like your optimism JF - and in any case I think you're right about sticking with Neil. Yes, he got it wrong yesterday but he 'gubbed' Walter Smith in the 3-0 win last season and we still lost the title so yesterday was far from a title decider! I agree with the opinions that we should be putting out our best in-form team first and foremost and not setting up just to stop Rangers winning. We also need a settled team each week to build confidence - chopping and changing is just disruptive. Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and James Forrest have shown that they can work well and provide goals - they should be given a run of games as should Joe Ledley. Tactical changes may be needed when things aren't working or injuries occur and that's when other players can get the opportunity to break into the team. Yesterday was hard to take and the second half was extremely disappointing but lets not over-react. I say lets see how Neil reacts to yesterday's mistakes, in future games.
the post said we never seem to score from corners, therefore your point that we hit the post is totally irrelevant
Stereo Typist Very good point and there was many more reasonable big transfer players in other parts of the team. I know some Celtic fans have blamed our board for not at least matching Rangers spending this decade. But surely the reason that Rangers have been able to outspend us, maintain their £10, for every £5.00 of ours is the little known Cambell Og/Bain tax evasion carried on for ten or twelve years. I don't think Celtic would have got 3 years out of a scam like that. Although we hear all sizes of figures how much the Rangers fiddled the Queen out of her dues, I don't think for one minute that the full amount will ever be revealed, it is normal for HMRS to agree on a figure of which there can be no doubt. This figure may only be half of the full amount but HMRS although pretty sure of the full amount won't be able to prove it and so settle for less. Rangers will never make good their fraud and even if they are deducted 10 points or relegated they will still not have paid their dues. Celtic fans often criticize the board for not spending. We may know why ?
The board are spending, £1m was paid out earlier this month to 2 executives in performance bonuses even though turnover was down in ticket sales and merchindising we also failed to win the league.
Thomas I honestly cannot understand why you remain a Celtic supporter. I know Sunday was trash but it does not justify such a negative reaction about the two board members taking legitimate bonuses. You remind me of the supporters who regularly rant about Dermot Desmond not spending millions on a player just because they think it would be a good ideal.
Are you taking the piss? I'm I not allowed to disagree with anything at the club? Oh no, that's right we've to not say a bad word against antone incase it hurts their feelings. <****ingmongosmiley>
Better be careful Thomas. Samaras's agent is threatening to sue anyone who criticises him No, I'm not making that up.
Quite right too. Samaras is a celtic player and no matter how absolutely, woefully, appalling, shockingly, dreadfully ****e he plays you have no right whatsoever to call yourself a fan if you so much as even mention, no scratch that - even think the possibility that he isn't up to the job.
