I get both your first and this point Ellers, what I don't hear is a solution?
1. We get our owners or new owners to throw billions into the club!
2. We give it time and hope that a successful solution/plan is found!
Take your pick?
Or do you have a better idea.

Lets get a throw in coach like Liverpool. Surely the answer :)

I want to quote something that Yorkshire R's said at the tail end of the Brentford match day thread where it might now be missed because I think it deserves a wider audience and is on point for this discussion:

"Warburtons solution is oh I worked with Kelly once nice chap he will do. Can add Wallace, Ball and have a penalty Barbet to that list. Then players hasn't worked with but must be great cos they are with premier league clubs Amos, Smith and Mlakar then suddenly really need to question summer acquisitions. On the flip side some footy MW has got us playing has been amazing. Maybe we need a top scout system aka Brentford and leave MW to manage, not use his "contacts" to bring in very average players."

I would add Kane to Yorkshire's list. As I said on that other thread, I remain a massive Warburton fan but transfers and, especially, transfer policy has been highly questionable.

Any incoming player suggested by the manager or one who has played for the manager before should have a completely independent scouting/recruitment process.

We saw with Redkrapp how many of the team were simply signed because Harry thought they were "triffic" lads!

Would it happen in any other industry, that the manager simply brings in his/her previous staff?

According to the Daily Record. Sir Les is running the eye over Shankland again this weekend. They play Hibs in the cup. A good performance will see us make a bid.

Jamboree bags & sherbert dips...pure heaven :emoticon-0110-tongu

Happy we have brought in Clarke. Hopefully he will freshen up our attack, and give us another option during games, or parts of games, when the others aren't creating chances, like 1st half Brentford.
