Honest mistake, maybe, but how many of those has he had? Fine to call it an honest mistake if it's once in a blue moon, but come on, he's had quite a few 'honest mistakes' recently!
Sooner or later we're gonna have to move on from him, and I'd rather it were sooner, thinking ahead. Same with Stevie G, he's no chicken and won't last forever.

Yeah I think at the end of the day everything about the club is new - Owners, Management, Coaches, Backroom staff etc, Players..
Let's face it any new company that completely rebuilds their workforce is going to take time to gain consistency. Although It's slightly annoying, we kind of knew this would be the case. Overall it's been an Ok start to the season and things will clearly improve when the whole Liverpool unit gel, not just the players but the club as a whole.
I dunno; new players not settled? Not true of Suarez, but maybe of Adam et al. No commitment in areas (Carroll, but I think Kenny's onto him already). Too much over-zealousness (Skrtel). A few annoying injuries (Gerrard, Johnson)
No real gelling overall I think, coupled with formations that haven't worked, eg 4-4-2 v Spurs, but that was an extreme example. I can't see Kenny making that mistake again!

I just think we got off to such a great start and expectations went through the roof. But realistically we're a new team and need time, the trouble is we don't have time as the premier league moves so fast.

i know its new owners and players bedding in, i was just pointing out that kenny needs to get a grip on us playing at a consistant (good) level.

There was enough in that 1st half to show Kenny that he really does have viable attacking squad options. If even one more of the chances we created had gone in, it would have been a totally different story.
We have to admire Brighton's spirit and faith in their game - they gave it a real good go in the 2nd half and showed us that our defence is not yet as solid as it needs to be.
Where does that leave Carroll? I think exactly where he needs to be at the moment - on the bench. He's really going to have to up his game and prove to Kenny that he deserves a start.

Personally I feel that we aren't playing to Carrolls abilities. If he is available, players chip it or cross it to him as if he is going to receive every one. Crouch doesn't/didn't get on most of them, same with Carroll.
He has a magnificent left foot, why not play to that and not just his head? He hasn't had any stupid comments or misbehavior since his transfer so to question his commitment on the basis of 5 or so games is early methinks.
On today's game and our overall play I feel that we lack decisiveness. We simply don't play into the box. We run up to the box, then we pass around it. No one runs in to take a header or a pass, they just stand behind the box or don't even bother running up. We have an offensive midfield but our strikers fall back much too far and we have no one in the box.
Coupled with Lucas's insistence on the back pass and Adam not being the most accurate passer this makes it very hard to score and I think Gerrard will drag everyone into the box and solve this.
Carragher is getting to be a liability. It doesn't matter if he played well the whole game, his job as a defender is to prevent the opposition from scoring. If he gives a pen away every 2 games, he's not doing his job. I love him and his career has been given to the club, but we need one more CB that plays like Agger without the glass bones. Skrtel and Carra are good backup and young Coates played solidly today (a few misplaced passes but a great last ditch tackle).
Reina will need to work on his penalty saving but was as usual solid.
Still good to get back to a win and to see us taking the cup seriously feels good.

Yeah. What bothers me, though, Skylarker, is we're not the only ones with a new team. I don't want to say too much in case I get accused of negativity and not getting behind the team, but there's a danger of confusing excuse with reason here. If some players were out of position on sunday that suggests to me an over-compensation for something that was missing. What was it? Injured players, maybe. Having said that we won last night, but I am miffed again at that penalty giveaway. That's another thing we seem to have a problem with: lapses in concentration. It only takes one! And Coates had an indifferent debut.
Forgot to mention: was listening to Talk Crap this morning - I often listen to the match reaction before turning back to Radio 1 - and caught a comment that they think Carroll's attitude is poor, so it's not just us.

While I'm not entirely happy that we got beaten 4-0 at the weekend and missed a few chances last night, I'm not prepared to suggest that this is a result of deeper problems within the club.
Carroll's form is perhaps our biggest problem at the moment, and as we've seen, he can be used sparingly until he finds some.

I agree - losing to Spurs in that fashion really hurt and it didn't help as we had 9 men on the field. It was our first poor 90 mins of the season but at least we bounced back against Brighton in decent fashion (first half only), and it was without Downing, Adam, Enrique - 3 technical players.

The Welshman netted the opener at the Amex Stadium with a stylish finish on seven minutes and also had a hand in Dirk Kuyt's winner, leaving the Reds boss delighted by the striker's overall contribution.
Dalglish told his post-match press conference: "I thought he was fantastic. When he came in we said he'd make a contribution and it's not taken him long.
"He just loves playing football. He's enthusiastic and very fit. He loves this football club. He's a supporter of this club, which sometimes sounds a bit sickly, but he actually is a supporter and wants to go out and do his best for the club.
"I thought all of the forwards linked up well; Suarez, Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy.
"Craig's a good footballer, an intelligent player, and they all linked up well with him. It looks like they will get on together."
Substitute Ashley Barnes netted a late consolation for the home side to set up a nervy finale, but it could not dent the positivity surrounding Liverpool on a night that also saw Steven Gerrard make his comeback following a six-month absence.

I'm not saying that there's a deep-rooted problem, either, no mutinies or anything like that, I'm just saying that if we have to make adjustments certain players will need to be able to cope. And our finishing needs looking at. End of opinion.

Agreed! I'm not being funny but if a footballer is playing football professionally then they should be decent in all area's of the pitch they specialise in. When I played football I was as good a right back as I was a left back and centre back (I didn't have the height for a centre back but I could still make a tackle and play the ball out from the defence) and it should be the same as a professional.
I couldn't beilive it last season when Meireles was playing so poorly on the right wing as he should play that role as well (or maybe just shy) as he plays in the centre... People seem to forget that these players get paid tens of thousands (sometimes hundreads of thousands) of pounds a WEEK and if they have no flexibility in their position then there is something wrong with the coaching system in football.
Heck in my line of work i'm a senior customer service advisor but if I was told that for 3-4 weeks I had to work as a senior administrator (like I just have done, ironically) then I know that I am flexible enough to do this and footballers should be too
I don't think there is a problem, there have been a lot of changes and it will take time for some players to find their feet. It's frustrating that we are not brushing all aside and I do agree that the 2nd half performanmces need to improve.
The management did get it wrong at Spurs but I don't think they need to come out cap in hand when they get it wrong.
As for Carroll I really think that he will come good and that some backing from us fans will speed up that process, it's not like there is any rush as we have other options in Suarez, Kuyt and Bellamy.
