Bournemouth have had faaaar more backing than we have in the transfer market. But like us, they waste most of it.
I thought he dived! And VAR overturns a rash tackle red... Getting the ball is supposed to be irrelevant to that kind of red, I thought...
Their primary problem of late is that they've had an injury crisis. David Brooks, who looked very promising last year for them, has missed the whole of the season thus far. They're without Ake and four fullbacks at the moment, and Josh King went down with a hamstring injury a couple days ago. I'd still expect them to be okay if they can weather this, but that won't be easy.
Thing is that I think they are sleepwalking into a relegation battle - the fans are at least. They all think that they will be ok once all the injured players are back. They may not come back in time, and it won't be easy to turn it around. We know that once you are down there, it isn't easy to get out
The only thing that matters about relegation is that it is not us, but Bournemouth are way down my list of teams that I want relegated. Hope they save themselves.
I think the injury crisis will be a significant factor for Bournemouth. They collapsed towards the end of last season and you wonder , even with the players returning, whether they can dig themselves out of a hole. They are not only failing to pick up points but playing poorly too. It will be a close relegation battle this season with the likes of Watford, West Ham and Villa picking up points. Both Villa and Watford has started to look a bit doomed so there is hope for Bournemouth but I am not sure they will get out of the mess. The other team not mentioned was Burnley. I was not aware that they have lost 7 out of 11 home matches. They are our next league opponent at St Marys, I think,
Re: Bournemouth, their next few fixtures will be huge for their season. If they're still in or around the bottom three in mid-Feb, I think they're down
It's why their injury crisis has come at exactly the wrong time for them. It's already led to their last four matches being defeats to West Ham, Brighton and Burnley (all without scoring), as well as a home draw to a rudderless Arsenal. And it will seemingly continue into their upcoming fixtures. From the start of the above four games through to the end of March, they couldn't wish for a nicer run of fixtures. But if their injuries continue to result in them wasting these games, they are screwed come their horrendous looking final two months.
