Chelsea and Villa both deserve to be winning.
Burnley looking really poor and for all the talk of how well Brighton's manager is foing they have less points than at this point last year.
Both could be in trouble come May.

Brighton were midtable this time last year and they went on an awful run and got sucked in, primarily because they struggled to score goals due to Houghtons backs to the wall tactics. Potter has done a fine job in changing their entire style of play, and they’re now scoring freely, they’re a good side. No way they’ll go down imo.

Burnley are yard dogs and always have been, but yard dogs who usually manage to scrape out of it.

It doesn’t matter about the previous fixtures. What matters is that all the games were being officiated in a certain way, and then if that was to change then the rest of the fixtures would all be officiated in the same way. It’s a nonsense argument, intended to merely kick the can down the road to the end of the season. It needs changing now. Even FIFA have now clarified how it should be used, and it’s not how we’re choosing to do it under Riley.

I know, tbh I expected him back today but with the FA cup and rotation expected at the weekend, if Rodgers feels that an extended rest and time with the family is best to set him up for the rest of the season then fair enough. His calls paid off Saturday and Iheanacho has looked capable.
BT sport just said tight hamstring too

I agree about Potter doing a good job...and I was not trying to belittle him.
Houghton let himself down in the second hslf of last season...(apart from tsking points of the goons) ...theit time wasting display at spurs was disgraceful tbh.
Just think they could get dragged into it and Burnley were awful at home to a poor villa side which surprised me.

Anyway...am off to listen to spurs get my new year off to a soul crushing sob story start <wah>

I think they’ll be fine mate. Not so sure about Burnley. The goals have dried up for Barnes and they’ve been over reliant on him. Defensively they’re solid but unless Barnes & Wood find their shooting boots they could be in bother.

I’m flicking between the Toon game and yours on BT.

All over us so far - your midfield looks far better without Dier.
