By ‘wrong time’ what I really mean is he is the sort of player who fits our model but we aren’t really looking to develop someone at this moment - young and hungry, yes, but really looking for an immediate impact - and it’s the exact position where we have Albrighton, Barnes, Gray, Perez all fighting for a place.
Another one for @leicester_ed - we are linked with 17yo CB Jarrad Branthwaite from Carlisle United who a lot of people have good things to say about. We are also linked with Soyuncu's international teammate Merih Demiral from Juventus - the 21yo CB just broke into the Juventus first team but apparently is unsettled as he will be back in the reserves once players are back fit. We are set to reject Villa and Palace for a loan move for Iheanacho - could indicate that we aren't going to be signing a new striker this window.
Don't think we were planning on a striker next month, think BR will have a decent strategy if Vardy gets injured to play to Iheanachos strengths. If we get Bowen in, i bet that will be it. Possibly an unsettled defender. Settled squad doing well in the league, with possible champions league football next year, the summer would be the best time to entice CL quality talent here, lets just hope the recruitments better than the last time we were in it What do people think the total spend will be in January? can't see us spending more then £50m in January, even if others are moved on.
Andy King is probably ending his loan spell at Rangers early due to a lack of game time. Presumably we'll be looking for another loan in January. Outside chance of joining Nige at Watford?
If he can't make the Rangers squad, no way is he anywhere near PL level. Can see a Championship move if a team is low on CMs.
Would be good to get him some football - I wouldn’t be suprised to see him go somewhere like Watford actually.
The big difference between the title winning side and the current side is that we had no weaknesses anywhere on the field. Now we have weaknesses on both left and right flanks. The title winning side had Albrighton and Mahrez, and now we have Perez and Barnes. Neither is good enough in their position. If we continue to play 4-1-4-1 either use Albrighton and Gray or go into the transfer market.
Lots of teams starting to be linked with Peirera. Whilst it was inevitable given his performances, what is interesting is this quote from the article below. Surely not and we learnt from Kante and nearly Vardy? ‘But he reportedly has a buyout clause for the summer of 2020 in his contract at the King Power Stadium that has alerted the attention of Europe's elite.’
Arsenal lead the race to sign Juventus' 21-year-old centre back Merih Demiral. The Gunners hope a £42.5m bid will beat interest from Manchester United, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Schalke. (Fotomac via Sun) Sure we were linked with him... can’t blame him though, he will actually play there. Leicester have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Juventus and Italy defender Daniele Rugani, 25. (Express) would be good
Having a look it, it seems Demiral is Juve's future "prospect" (the Soyuncu to Chellinis Maguire) and Rugani is surplus, can't say i remember seeing either play. Not alot of love for Rugani from Juve fans, shouldn't automatically discount him because hes not good enough for Juve though, give him to Kolo and watch him become the next Kompany
Apparently Man City have had a bid of £35m for Soyuncu rejected - been told to double it before we'd even pay attention. Also we have had a £30M bid for Soyuncu's international CB partner Merih Demiral rejected as well - Juventus are open to a loan and given Morgan's injury, we might be interested in that. Man Utd are really interested in Maddison but it looks to be a token interest with some derisory bids incoming to show that they are making an effort to improve their crappy squad to their shareholders.
