I said it as well. As have many economists. What McDonnell is trying to do is give the impression that people don’t have to worry as only the top 5% will be asked to pay more income tax and NI. They couldn’t fund their plans anywhere near. So other taxes will go up, and, as we know, taxes on goods and services affect the less well off proportionately more than the well off.

And it would hardly be the children’s fault if their parents prioritised their own selfish needs anyway

The introduction of the NHS balances that out, for me.

They don’t have any of those things, not even a TV? Really?

Does the Labour Party manifesto propose policies similar to those in Venezuela? No it doesn’t. I really think you should treat this thread more seriously and with more respect.

It wouldn’t. But you can’t blame the government in that case, either.

The people earning over £81k will have to pay an extra £1.93 a week. I don't even earn half that and I'd happily pay it if it meant improvements to society.

Someone on £110,000, that is over £80,000, would have to pay another £1.93 a week? Really? Obviously you don’t teach economics. In that case where are all these promised billions of extra spending coming from?

What do you mean "not even"? If a TV is a luxury they can't afford, of course they won't have one. I don't teach the children anymore, they're in a different year group now, but I don't recall them mentioning TV. They'd never even been outside of Hull, even to the East Riding.

The grandparents are lovely, honest people, but they literally live off pittance and have two children to look after. They need help, they aren't getting it.

Do you know they don’t have one then? For certain?

Ah, shouldn't have said "over". But the threshold is £1.93 a week at £81k. Presumably it goes up after that.

The promised billions are to be brought in from corporations that currently aren't paying what they should into the system.

How should they have handled it?

What went wrong and what should they have done?

What were the external pressures on our economy?

Strange. She has disappeared from view. Almost as if Labour don’t want people thinking if Labour get in she will be involved in things affecting us.

Yes. Better public services, better buses, cheaper trains, a better NHS, a fairer society. They’ll be gutted.

Like from the Billionaires who own the Leading Rags don’t pay taxes but believe they should have the right to tell others how to vote.

Unfortunately there’s some gullible old fools about.
