This escalated quickly.

  • Won the last Super Cup
  • Won the last Champions League
  • 8 points clear at the top of our domestic league
  • One league defeat last season. Zero this season.
  • Undefeated at home in the league for 2.5 years
  • 7 players nominated for the Ballon d'Or

What more do people want before we can say we're the best FFS?

Well, just let's hope it's not another one bites the dust when it comes to our players in Qatar, eh?
Hoping more - gimme the prize :)
Although we could be rushing Headlong into a disaster
Will be a Miracle if we come through it unscathed lmao :) :)

Exactly my point.
We won a highly prestigious tournament and I'm chuffed about it, but you can't claim to be "the best" when you don't even have to be the best to be in it.

But you can claim to be world champions if you win it because that's the title it gives you. Just like European champions for winning the CL and English champions for the PL. In reality, the latter is the one we all want.

I would use the term Champions League Winners. Although obviously it's ok to use variations, we all know what it refers to.

If Chelsea had beaten us in the Super Cup, could they claim to be the best?

Tbh, I'm getting bored with all this semantic nonsense - as you say, the PL is the one we all want. I don't see how anyone can, in all honesty, claim to be the best without it. The rest trail behind, with varying degrees of importance - the CL easily the best of those, the CWC way down the pecking order.
In my opinion.

Claiming to be the best or the champions of something isn't the same thing

I'll be pleased if we win it, I'll watch the final of we're in it and I'm glad it's on at a sensible time.
What level of pleased? Less than the league cup but close to it.

I thought you said you weren't gonna watch in protest?

So we're deffo in it...

Qatar in December is not going to help our season and regardless of our season over a thousand people have already died for this place to create football stadiums. Should we go at all?

I've already decided that I won't watch the World Cup in Qatar in a small protest over the lies and backhanders that have happened to award them the WC aswell as the human rights violations it would be hypocritical for me to watch Liverpool in this cup. If global audiences turn off it will make a difference a small sacrifice and an easy one that does actually make a difference.
It's an easy protest though, just don't watch it and you may make a difference. Not many have time to be militant and make banners and march about the place but for the simple action of not turning the TV into a certain channel you could make a difference.

Well look what I found luvvy <whistle>

Well I certainly couldn't remember saying it. There it is though. <laugh>
That's what I meant about checking morals I hadn't thought about it at all recently.
Funny how time goes by. I look at what I said and I thank you for the reminder. :emoticon-0150-hands

I will stand by what I said.

I wasn't being a **** mate, just remember it clearly cos I remember telling you that Fifa won't care about one less Welshman cheering on anyone but England. Didn't think it'd be that easy to find though.

I didn't think you were being a **** mate and I'm glad you reminded me. People shouldn't support this or the WC imo and I've had a read again this morning and some of the story's coming out of there especially in Doha are horrific.
Wiki gives you a broad idea of what is going on and the estimates are over 4000 deaths of migrant workers for the WC to go ahead.

"We are captured," Prasad told WDR. "Every day we nourish ourselves on water and bread. Without money we can't do anything else. Month on month our situation gets worse and worse. I'm not sure how much longer I can do it. I just want to go home. We can't even call our family in Nepal.
