Hoiveld isn't a great player but he is solid, we have him until January and he will do a good job, but personally I think we will sign someone else.
I was impressed with both our fullbacks today - Fox looked good and Richardson got 2 good assists. Hoiveld is a decent loan signing.
Fox's crosses from free kicks on the right are superb and pinpoint accurate beating the keeper everytime. How much longer do we have to wait before these stupid, hypercritical, know nothing about football fools start criticising Lallana or Cork or heaven forbid our Nigel. Every player in a Saints shirt today was just brilliant. It is just a pity about one or two of the morons in the stands especially the ones behind me who were on Gully's back even before the game had started.
Agreed. He's proven before to be quality at this level, and with regards to his positioning fullback in our free-flowing style probably requires a fair bit of acclimatization...with the way we push forward it's easy to get caught out if you're not a bit careful.
I said he was suspect. He gave away a ridiculous free kick for their goal as well as a couple of errors in the box in the first half which we were lucky didn't end up in goals. Like I said he's good in the air and positionally, but his tackling looks a weak point.
Were you not at the game! He was fantastic, I am not one for being critical of opinions but you are 100% wrong! Hooiveld was excellent, strong, confident and passed well, he is intelligent and stays on his feet, we didnt give any goals away in open play and all this in his second game when he is short of match practice! 100% wrong, if he keeps this up the CB Position is his!!!
There were 3 missed/lost tackles in our penalty area in the first half, and in the second he gave away that stupid free kick and was lucky not po pick up a yellow imo. He always seemed to struggle if the centre forward, normally King got control of the ball. If he could get in before that he generally did well. All I said is that he looks suspect, which he does. I will give him time though as he is a much better option than martin who always seems to lose concentration and gets caught out, something Hooiveld is pretty sharpe on. The mistakes could have been down to the conditions, but that is something that should not effect a pro footballer.
didnt really think he played well against forest but then again we didnt play that well as a team but still won. he played well yesterday probably give him a solid 7. i think he looks good coming forward and seems alright at the back.give him a couple more games before we judge. also richardson was man of the match yesterday
I had a lot of sympathy for both our full backs in the second half on Sunday as I thought both wide mid fielders (Guly & Lala) didn't do as much quality tracking back as they should and left the full backs exposed to sometimes two or three Brummies. As soon as Chappers came on this seeled up the right hand side but Foxy was left a bit exposed as Lala had the bit between his teeth and wanted to outdo Messi
Fox and Hoiveld written off. For me the best two players on the pitch last night. Fox is immense with his ball control.
I was one of the ones that didn't feel he was doing well before. However, I can now say with confidence that he does look a class act. Cool, calm and collective at all times - he has made the left-back position his own. Also great with set-piece deliveries - something the team really needed.
Just goes to show how stupid it is to base opinions on a very small handful of appearances. Having happily given both of them a chance, I'm pleased to see that they're repaying my faith so far. Long may it continue.
