I suspected it was coming, so I think I've had time to adjust to the idea. Pochettino wasn't going to turn things around and we needed to replace him. Mourinho wins things. I can't say that I like the bloke, but I'll try to approach his appointment with an open mind. He does hate Arsenal, so he can't be all bad.
He's a grade A **** of the highest order, I think that's something that nearly all fans can agree on. I understand why Pochettino has gone, it had gone sour at the club and it was affecting results, but I can't help thinking that Levy has made a massive mistake getting rid of him, and surely he has to shoulder some of the blame. Maureen's appointment will certainly spice things up between Spurs and Arsenal, we hate him as much as he hates us. So getting one over on you lot with Maureen at the wheel will make it so much sweeter. Especially if Poch ends up at Arsenal
Levy has to take some of the blame, as we went far too long without making any signings or getting rid of enough players. Shifting people became a real issue and we've got some deadwood in the squad taking up places. He took his eye off the ball because of the stadium, in my opinion. We're after a Director of Football as a result. Note that Mourinho's job title is Head Coach. Pochettino will join Bayern, I think. He ruled out Barca because of his time at Espanyol, so you lot can stop dreaming. Maybe you can pick up Pellegrini next week, if Mourinho can do you a favour and win his first game in charge?
Levy would never admit to any of the blame though, he sees himself as being more important than the manager. Maureen & Levy - clash of the egos. Should be entertaining
He is more important than the manager. He picks who it is, for a start! Levy knows that he makes mistakes. He openly admits it and hopefully he'll learn from it. Realising that he can't run the whole club himself would be a start and hiring a Director of Football would make that clear.
Well at least he's spent some money at last. Probably should have spent it on Dybala's image rights instead of paying off Pochettino
They wanted £40m or something equally silly. Not the area that we need to focus on strengthening right now, either.
I didn't realise it was as much as that. I thought it was in the region of £12m on top of his transfer fee.
Just when Piskie was heartbroken about hiag leaving, Spurs give him this gift to take him mind off things.
So he's hinted that he feels the squad is strong and that he doesn't need to bring many players in. Levy has done a job on him.
