Give this a go.

I could be here all day though.

I just wanted to see a ‘live’ performance of the song, they’re all a bit intimate, maybe it was your era that appreciated them on another level but I’ve just never thought of them as an incredible band. I don’t hate them like Comm does like I’ve got a few of their songs on my Apple Music.

This is probably my favourite song from an equivalent genre from my era, live. The lyrics, front man (vocals and character), and music all seems on a completely different planet to the Smiths for me.

Each to their own I suppose.

There's not many live clips of individual songs.

There an album of this tour called Rank. Worth a listen but this is a long watch if you can be arsed.

Bands like The Verve exist because of bands like The Smiths. Richard Ashcroft would be the first to confirm this, and has.

interesting.

I liked oasis, but the roses were better. I also loved the happy Monday’s.

The Stone Roses were a great band but they ran out of ideas after two albums.

Oasis at least carried on and made tons more music, even though the quality dropped off a cliff.

The Roses then released a ****e ep, then gave up again, after their recent reunion.
Ian Brown had by that time released a **** ton of quality stuff so the problem wasn't him, even though he can't sing a note!

I actually think John Squire is the weak link in that band.

I’m not arguing that they were an important band, I just can’t see whatever it is you’re seeing. I understand this though, most people on this site don’t like Hip Hop or think it takes any talent to put together, whereas I do, so it’s subjective.

Most bands don’t exist without Beatles and/or Elvis either mind, or poetry, or Shakespeare or whatever, most of that is bollocks innit.

Mira hard to judge, longevity of the band or the sheer brilliance of a couple of albums. The roses felt groundbreaking to me. Oasis just hopped on the same bandwagon. New order just kept evolving and pumping out great music. Technique was probably my favourite album of theirs.

And here's the thing, I fully appreciate hip hop and have number of go to artists within that genre, although don't bother with most of it.

Wouldn't dream of dismissing it as '****', just because it's not necessarily my thing.

That's just lazy, ill informed, bollocks.

Technique is an absolute belter.

Was a sound track to a trip to Australia of mine, used to get the coach drivers to stick it on when going cross country.

Yeah well that’s Comm’s take on it, **** to me is U2. I can’t stand any song they’ve ever released.

Yeah I dislike/hate 99% of rock music but wouldn’t say it’s ****, just different tastes.

Joshua Tree was a great album. Don’t actually like them as a band though. Can’t think of any other song they’ve done that I’ve liked bar a few off that album.

depends what you define as rock music. I love all sorts. Bit of rock and roll. Country music. Never really liked heavy metal. Though even iron maiden released some stuff I liked back in the day.

only genre of music I didn’t like was hard house. Hated it.

Pretty much anything with a guitarist a drummer and a singer I would classify as rock.

But 95% of people would hate my music tastes so I’m definitely in the minority
