Campey’s on Londesborough Street Den, next to the chippy, skills passed down through generations, the shop’s been there forever, definitely the best cobbler in Hull

Has scaffolding outside at the moment and has had for a while, building not been maintained much over the decades.

Campey himself had been ill for a while before that and not even sure if he was still trading.

Maybe he'll pass the shop onto that crazy alsatian with the stinking breath that used to stand up over the counter and bark at you....

Brilliant cobblers down a little Dickensian alleyway near The King Billy in Cottingham, run by, if I remember correctly, one Walter Pybus.

Although, he was about a hundred and three when I last took a pair of shoes in there, back in 1979, so this may not be my most reliable piece of footwear related advice.

If it is still there, do not use it. I had an expensive pair of shoes re-soled. Stitched them through the inside and ruined them.

Good old school cobbler on holderness road, parade of shops at the southcoates lane junction.

There is one on Prestongate in Hessle, only used him for re heeling wor Maude’s stiletto boots, guess that’ll fit the bill Den?
That's the last cobblers I ever visited, about 15 - 20 years ago. I was visiting my ma (RIP mum) in Hessle & I discovered one typical rainy day that I had a hole in my sole ( sounds like a song !).
I only had one pair with me (plus a pair of runners) so took 'em to above establishment for fixing. (They also cut keys if I recall ?).
"How long ?" I asked. "About a couple of hours" was the response. Perfect I thought, that'll give me time to visit a couple of my old haunts from the 60's for a quick pint or two and read the paper.
Within 4 minutes walk of the cobbler's are at least 4 pubs. The Hase, Admiral Hawke, Granby and Top House (The George).
Ended up in 'em all.
I just noticed "Top House" had closed - shame. lovely old pub, first one I ever drank in (underage anarl - despite the copshop just being around the corner at the top of Prestongate - on the Weir ?, the cops never cared about underage drinking - decent source of income for the various landlords).

Found this...and all because DBT "allegedly" wants to fix his high-heeled boots :emoticon-0100-smile
