My Favourite Albums - As many of us here are of a more mature vintage , then let's celebrate "the album".

Before the days of mp3 players and just shuffling through thousands of songs aimlessly, there was the magical experience of sitting down for the experience of playing an album all the way through. From start to finish, it was an experience. You listened to the songs in the order they were meant to be played, as decided by the artist.

Even with CDs, early on at least, this applied. Full Moon Fever from 1989 (another of my favourites) by Tom Petty had a spoken bit in the middle where he said something along the lines of "if this was vinyl this is the point where you'd turn the record over"!

Also - album covers. With vinyl these could be works of art and added to the aesthetic. I haven't actually kept too many of my original vinyl albums, which is a shame really.

Now I should say I love technology. I've had a computer since the Commodore 64! I wrote software for it and have been recording music digitally since my Amiga 500 days. I've ripped all my CDs to both MP3 and FLAC and currently record my music with a DAW on Linux called Mixbus.

Anyway... so why not post your favourite album(s), one at a time preferably and maybe say a little about why it's a favourite? There's a lot of music out there I've never heard and you could turn me (and others) on to something new <cheers>

I'm not posting mine in any order of favouritism as that would be too hard... apart from position #1 - that's any one (or all) of 5 or 6 Beatles albums! After that it gets harder. I'll start with a gem from 1988 by The La's, called "The La's" as I'm currently listening to that. A one off album by a Liverpudlian band. You may know the hit single off the album, "There She Goes". They fell out after this. Great shame but at least we have this cracker...

Travelling in the car for a weekend home and you could guarantee this would be playing on the cassette player.

    That's fantastic - cheers!

I certainly do and that's the album I would have posted. Townsend is one of the legends, without a doubt. BUT... you have to add in the rest of the band! Sometimes magic just happens and it wouldn't have been the same without the ALL the band members :emoticon-0178-rock:
