Off Topic Sport Other than Football - formerly the Ashes Thread

I know very little about Egg chasing, but we were given time off to watch the final so I did. South Africa deserved to win they were stronger and to my untrained eye it appeared that they played to their game plan.

But give me football any day.

It was very attritional.
The first 60 minutes were just an exercise in exchanging penalty kicks.
That's when rugby is boring and disappointing for those of us who are not aficionados!
I'd have settled for a dull game if England had come out on top though.
I've watched World Cups in football, cricket and rugby over the last 16 months.
The cricket WC was by far the most entertaining.

For sure - An England win was fabulous - the good thing about today is that it should leave Ben Stokes in poll position for SPOTY!

Shame about England, South Africa just had more about them and seemed to want it that bit more too.

Anyway, it's Diaz vs Masvidal tonight, likely to be the fight of the century if it goes as I imagine it too, if you're able to stay up til about 5am I'd highly recommend <ok>

Yeah I'm a big Diaz brother fan, wish Nick would come back but can't see it.

Fight's gonna be mad though, both these go by the philosophy of kill or be killed.

Something tells me it'll take a 1500-word essay to explain why this makes me so goddamn happy...

The England scrum, and the SA tackling, won them the game.
Penalties which allowed SA to keep the score ticking over/ahead, and relieve
some moments of England pressure.

The SA tries : no different to what Watson did to Aus in the QFs.

Yes, they conceded so many penalties - most of which resulted in successful kicks at goal.
That gave SA a lead they just needed to defend; there was no pressure to score tries.
That destroyed the spectacle.
The game only opened up when England were forced to chase it and it was SA who exploited the spaces.

Please don't tell me any of you are paying for KSI v Logan Paul.
What nonsense. Talentless idiots whose celebrity is just based on exposure.
A pay per view boxing match between two people who are in the public eye for doing nothing in particular and having no discernible talent or ability is absurd.
Why would anyone be interested?

On the plus side, you do get to see Logan Paul getting punched in the face

On the minus side, it's not a pneumatic drill punching him in the face

Great T20 game between NZ and England (although it was strictly speaking T11 + super over).
29 sixes in 24 overs.
Guptill and Bairstow in particular with some incredible hitting.

Haven't watched it, but how does this go from PPV to a free, official Youtube upload in 9 hours? Odd.

Mainly posted because I want to watch it and it'll remind me! <laugh>
It is supposed to be a surprisingly good fight, though.

Caught some of the darts on ITV4 last night (not intentionally, it overrun into what I actually wanted to watch) and once again it confirmed that all professional darts players look like serial killers

Ooh Michael Van Gerwen.

If you can't sleep, watch the cricket. England have scored one run in the last 25 minutes
