Yeah he will be gone as well. The thing with the Tories is, if you cross them they will get you back. It's happened throughout history.
Bercow pushed his luck and they stitched him up. Rudd wanted back in and was rejected. Grieve is the one i'm waiting for... :emoticon-0100-smile

5 Reasons why Labour can win the election:

Scrutiny: The Tories will realize to their cost that you can't fill the pages of a manifesto with slogans like 'Let's get it done' and 'The will of the people' - it's not enough. This election is not just about Brexit - that could be dried and dusted in 6 months. It is about running the country for the next 5 years - and the flip side of 'getting it done' is that this Tory cabinet is the most right wing cabinet ever to emerge in the UK - the question is not about Brexit, but rather whether you want Johnson to have a majority for 5 years - to deregulate, and turn Britain into a bargain basement society.

Lib Dems: For even the staunchest remainer it must be clear that the idea of scrapping Article 50 is not on - reversing the effects of one referendum can only be done by another one - Labour has realized this, albeit a bit late in the day. Having said that they are in a strong position, but most of their target seats are tory held ones.

Tactical voting: I do not have a vote in the UK. but if I did I would always vote for the candidate best placed to defeat the standing Tory. If even 30% of remainers vote tactically then that would be enough. Opinion polls don't mention this factor. But - there are now more remainers than brexiteers in the UK.

Campaigning in December: We know that whatever the opinion polls say at the beginning of a campaign, Labour will reduce the gap during the campaign itself - quite simply because they have 5 times as many members canvassing on the streets in the marginals. They are also younger - I doubt that many of the Tories (average age 70) want to go campaigning at this time of the year (not good for the joints and bones).

Lastly: People don't want an election in December - and unwanted elections tend to go against whoever called them. Polls have shown that a second referendum had much more support than there was for a general election. In fact the majority wanted to see Johnson press ahead with his deal rather than go to the polls.

Funnily enough I had to edit the text because of one spelling mistake - and in the meantime you had answered it. Nothing desrarate about this at all. Do the Tories have anything other than 'let's get it done' to sell to the electorate - if so could you enlighten me ? This appears rather thin to stand up to the scrutiny of a 6 week election campaign. Once we get away from the soundbites and headlines and start to look at real content then the present Tory lead will evaporate.

The last time Labour was in power, by the time they left number 10, there was this note left:
    17 May 2010
It is a convention for outgoing ministers to leave a note for their successors with advice on how to settle into the job. But Byrne's note – which he later said was intended as a private joke – drew attention to Labour's economic record when it was revealed by Laws at a press conference today.
Laws told reporters: "When I arrived at my desk on the very first day as chief secretary, I found a letter from the previous chief secretary to give me some advice, I assumed, on how I conduct myself over the months ahead.
"Unfortunately, when I opened it, it was a one-sentence letter which simply said: 'Dear chief secretary, I'm afraid to tell you there's no money left,' which was honest but slightly less helpful advice than I had been expecting."

The Tories had previously done this to Labour in 1964 - however my concerns are that if Corbyn and co got in, where will they get the money to do what they want and will they fail to deliver what the people voted for in 2016? Everything has been privatised and a lot is in the hands of foreign companies

Beginning to think my brother had the right idea when he emigrated to Australia over 10 years ago....

You worry about what is going on in the Reichstag and i will worry about what happens here.

TBH you can post what you want but Boris will win the election with a majority. He is popular and people would trust him over a guy who has a problem with Jews and calls terrorists "brothers"... not to mention Salisbury.
Come back when you have lost and we can discuss.

There’s also the rather appealing “we ain’t Corbyn” slogan if “let’s get Brexit done” doesn’t work.

I will 'come back' when I choose Ellers. I gather from some other posts that you are a member of the Conservative Party ? Correct me if I am wrong. So when it comes to actually canvassing for the party you may be involved ? In which case you can practice now. Every single post of yours is wasted because they concentrate upon individual attacks on politicians you don't like. The electorate needs more than that - can you give me any solid reason why a person should vote Conservative other than 'to get it done' ?

you see that's where you are wrong fella. You make a sweeping statement about me which is incorrect. I won't be out canvasing or worried about anything.
I will tell you something though....
I listen to the phone-ins every day (have done for years). All i hear are Labour voters turning away from the party. Night after night it's the same story. I never hear Tories saying it. I listen to people in the pub and at work (not a load of deluded tw2ts in the London bubble) who say we should respect the referendum and how they think Parliament is deliberately stopping Boris and Brexit. These people will not vote Labour or Limps.
Finally and this is the best. My Mrs is a remainer, like her brother/wife Mother and Father. They never come on forums or ever talks politics when out. You would never know who they vote for. All of them will vote Tory. (The silent Tories). who will come out in rain/snow/earthquake to vote Tory.
That is why the Tories will win because its people like them who voted remain but will still vote for their local Tory MP whereas many Labour voters will switch.

You still haven't answered my question at the end Ellers - what do the Tories have on their agenda other than 'lets get it done' ? I wouldn't base much importance to phone-ins Ellers - people who do that are normally those with a beef about something, who want to let off steam and have nobody else to do it with. I've never actually met anyone who has done such a thing (or confessed to doing it).

I myself could easily be a Brexiteer however I am not because I believe I am realistic about our country surviving without being a part of the EU. Even now theee doesn’t appear to be any solutions going forward to combat the issues
Maybe we will all get to policies or rather unrealistic promises that will be broken.

we are bound to see a rise in the Brexit party no doubt at all but to me they have nothing in terms of sorting out the mess.

here is the problem, it seems like important things like facts, figures and policies don’t matter, must be so easy being a Tory or Brexit party, just throw out a load of phrases, some of which you can’t even keep your promises with, and that will satisfy their target audience. Question anything in detail and a zzzzzzz response will do.
