It's to help developing rugby countries to evolve their game and increase their standards and levels so the world game becomes more competitive.

Japan seem to be evolving very well at moment, but it's their home soil and most countries do well on home soil in World Cup.
I remember 1966 when one the 'also ran' countries actually won. Bloody hell.

Unfortunately I couldn't watch the whole game as we had previous arrangements (that means my wife wanted to go out somewhere). I saw the first twenty minutes or so and was glad to leave. The party we went to was much more fun anyway. Good on you, England. Hope you do well, you need something to cheer you up. Poor sods.

Plenty to cheer us up m8, England spanked the Aussies, Leeds win, and Millwall 2 up with 7 mins to go losing 3-2.<laugh> Happy days.

Ha! Didny know that about Millwall. Guess no-one will be calling in from Germany for a while. :D

Got to mention another reason to be cheerful, btw. Partick Thistle scored 3 goals in the last 5 minutes against Dundee away, winning 3-2. That elevated us to ... er ... last in the league. :) :(

Add to that my home town beat Saracens yesterday and it was a perfect sporting day. I might even watch the Liverpool game today
