My theory is that we should play him with a strike partner, specifically McNulty, it'd take the pressure off him being the sole striker which doesn't seem to be a role he's comfortable with. McNulty's quite quick and dynamic and can pull the defence about a bit to make space.
Whichever combination Parkinson uses at least he's recognised that we don't create enough chances. That in itself is promising whereas Ross seemingly didn't think it really mattered.
Grigg seemed to have a spring in his step after he came on against wycombe. Straw clutching but maybe he sees light at the end of tunnel now that Mr insipid has been torched. Unfortunately we dont seem to have the sort of front line leader ( target man) that parkinson seems to prefer. With wyke gone the average height of the team ross assembled is 4ft 11in. He is going to have to play a high press passing game because hoofball really wont cut it unless he decides to think outside of the box and use ozturk up front ( seriously I do jest). Crouch is now a free agent isnt he and so is Jonathan Walter's.
Jack Rodwell is a free agent. Former Man City player and England international. Any takers? Bony still hasn't found a club. Might as well try him for 10 grand a game and, a couple grand, per goal, on a pay as you play contract. See how skint he is. Martin Olsson the Swedish LB who was at Blackburn, Norwich and Swansea. Still only 31. He's mainly played in the premier league until last season when he was in the Championship. He won 5 caps for Sweden, last season. He's a player I've always really liked and I think he could be within our reach.
Yes to all three, as long as Bony and Olsson aren't injured they'd definitely be worth a look both of them are better than league one level when in form and it's positions we need players for. Rodwell would be a canny signing in the sense it'd be easier to bundle him into a car if he was a Sunderland player again.
Not a bad idea mate, he is suitable for one or two roles imo.maybe man marking the beast in our last game for instance, he would have been a better option than Leadbitter for instance, a couple of games this season he has shown a killer pass over distance and this could be a useful ploy clutching straws maybe, but we do need a change of direction, as with moving McG into a central position behind a striker is another and I have suggested both on here months ago.
