https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...e-wykes-ankle-injury-will-keep-him-out-817750 Four weeks. Not sure if this was the same problem he had when he signed but it’s worrying if it is a reoccurrence of a previous injury for the lad
I think the lad has a problem which won’t go away and it’s a matter of time that he injured himself like Saturday. iirc it happened in a friendly for Bradford about a fortnight or so before he signed.
Feel like a twat saying it because I like the lad but we aren't going to miss him and it should push Parkinson into playing McNulty who I believe is better. I was a bit concerned that Parkinson was going to play Wyke every game because of having success with him in the past. Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery at any rate.
Yeah he managed him at Bradford didn't he? I could be wrong I'd never really heard of either of them before we signed them.
That’s what I was thinking. Iirc wyke played at Carlisle and did well then stepped up to Bradford and did ok. This ankle problem has stalled his safc career from the start sadly
It did for ages but I thought at the start of this season he was looking in good nick, shame the damage was done to his confidence/rustiness in front of goal and he couldn't get going. Almost exactly the same situation as Grigg innit. That's what happens when you buy crocks, not our finest decisions.
It was a knee injury that he got in a friendly for Bradford about a month before he signed for us. He then picked up another knee injury shortly after starting to play for us. It wasn't an ankle injury.
Aye, players being out really don't help us. He hasn't been great but Parkinson might have been able to get a tune out of him. Time for Grigg (crosses fingers) and McNulty to step up.
