6 seems to be the age!! I was 6 at my first game - 38 years ago - August 81!! Scary. My son was 6 - but he's already had enough and turned his back on it. He is supporting Coxhoe and Spennymoor now which is fair enough - he wants to play for Coxhoe next year when he hits 16

correct me if I am wrong about this but... Wasn't it Ellis Short's staff who were offering players £10k a week to play in the third division? More than any other 3rd division player (outside of ours) were being paid?

Donald has run the club to a sustainable level from what I can see. Shifted most of the silly money players. Not sure what you expect from him. Short may have started well at the club with some investment but his last 5 years were dire and the club was very poorly run financially - hence the >£100m debt we had

The man has previously said Ross was a bad a manager as Moyes. Now he is saying Short was a good owner. The only decent thing Short did was writing off the debt (and maybe appointing Big Sam, though I'm not sure how much of that was his decision)

I'm hoping for his sake that he's a wum.

it amazes me that Sunderland fans can’t seem to remember beyond the past week it won’t be long where we have three easy games coming up and will all be we will should get 9 points from these and be clear at the top where as in reality we will get 1 have 3 sent off and slump to mid table. <laugh> But you just have to love them.

It's not all that bad mate, new manager and a fresh start. The bloke seems like a good sort. Evil Ross has been purged and now we are cleansed.

No doubt it'll all end in disaster but let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

He's taking negativity to the extreme.

First it was Ross. Which was valid, I think everyone could see it wasn't working after Bolton and Lincoln. But he said he was as bad as Moyes ffs.

Then Donald and Charlie are out to sabatage the everything and anything concerning the takeover. Has Donald handled it brilliantly? Hell no, but to say Short was a better owner?

And apparently he knows Hill and Cotton wouldn't work with any manager who doesn't play hoof ball.

I think he’s talking negatively because this is the worst period in Sunderland’s history if you can find anything to be cheerful about good on you mate <ok>

We didn't go under when we were on the verge of doing so.. After two successive relegations and on a seemingly unstoppable downward spiral, we are at least challenging at the top end of this league.. Certainly not all doom and gloom unless you are a glass half empty person.

    In Sunderlands history? Come on.

There's more reasons to be optimistic now than when Short was in charge, we were 100+ million in debt and moyes had given his first ever so inspiring interview.
Championship season was down right depressing. I'd take our situation now over those 2 anytime.
Yeah, we're in league one which is ****. But the rot has stopped and club has been stabilised.

Things can always be better, but what's the point of claiming **** like Hill and Cotton only working with long ball managers? Or Short bring a better owner than Donald? Or saying Ross was as bad as Moyes?

Hell, looking retrospectively, even when comparing to Quinn and Drumville ownership we're arguably better run now. Quinn and Drumville wasted how much money, handed out all kinds of shoddy contracts and employed Bryne...

As said, things could be better, especially around the takeover communication, but to say we're in the worst period of the clubs history is madness.

    Oh I'm your pal!
What you have seen is clearly selective as I pointed out which you are still ignoring.
Shoot first ask questions later appears to be your MO.
There are many posters on here expressing reservations and disappointment with what is going on and has gone on.
You seem to conveniently ignore them or do they use too many big words thus making it difficult for you to sort the wheat from the chaff?

You don't half chat some ****e my friend.

You're having a go at me for singling you out when the only reason we're addressing each other is that you quoted me on a post I hadn't addressed to anyone in particular. I've since seen you tag me in a post and refer to me in another totally unprovoked.

Stop picking on me you big meanie or I don't know how long we'll be best buds for.

I think you must wear them really thick glasses my mate used to have when we were at school except yours are red lets see where we are in half a dozen games and we could be worse off than last year that's not moving forward in my book.

So you're telling me you'd rather have Short back and all the debt and bad decisions that went with his ownership than be where we are now?

To be fair mate that's a difficult one to answer because he may have learnt a vital lesson of not letting a bunch of ****ers spend his money on s hite also we would have a owner who was a billionaire instead of somebody who hasn't a pot to piss in and people seem to forget he spent hundreds of millions which was wasted and still baled us out so who has the club most to heart Short or Donald?
