I know probably been done a thousand times but who's the best you have seen live and your favourite player seen live.

Me

Best live - Phillips, makes me feel to young as so many great players I missed

Favourite live - Makin, everything I wanted to be in a full back

Best Non Sunderland. George Best
Best Sunderland. Paul Bracewell (first time)

Favourite Non Sunderland. Steve Coppell (I used to play right wing)
Favourite Sunderland. Gary Rowell

What about some of Fergie teams at Man Utd miles better than that Arsenal one

Hmm, in their way sure, but not in the way they played the ball.

It was just beautiful watching that side, I think they done us 3 or 4 nil and you weren’t offended by it, it was just crazy to watch, the fluency, the touches.

I wouldn’t like to pick a winner between that Arsenal side of that season and a top United side. United sustained it but I don’t think they ever had a side so in tandem and effortless.

The entire Arsenal team in the Henry, Bergkamp, Pires & Ljungberg era.

Just wow.

They were brilliant, especially Bergkamp. I remember his goal at Roker Park in the cup replay (when they covered their mouths celebrating) it was tremendous.

Favourite - I used to love it when magic Johnston got the ball and ran at the full back. Usually cut in and hit one in the top corner or the defender couldn't handle him.

Bit controversial but was at the England v Greece match when Beckham played the game of his life.

Favourite? For when I started going to games full time home and many aways I will say Gabbiadini. Whenever he got the ball you just thought something would happen.

I remember that vividly, hadn’t he been sent off against us a few weeks prior? He was something Bergkamp, his touch was borderline pornography.

What a ****ing player man.

With Bergkamp & that tackle on bracewell Wenger said after it wasn't even a yellow

Bergakamp didn't even wait for the ref to show the red card he went straight off

It was something like that yes. Think we played them in the cup down there, got a replay then had them again in the league up here a week later or something. I was in the Fulwell when he put it in. Quite a few of us clapped tbh. Just got to appreciate quality when you see it.

Ian wright missed all 3 games he'd been sent off in a previous league game

We had some real ****ing moments that season at Roker.

Beating United, Waddles free kick, the absolute scenes when Scott scores his pen v Mags (I remember diving about for about 10 mins and then looking over to the Fulwell end and it was still going berserk).

We ****ed it losing games we shouldn’t have, but then we should never have been there that season. Reid really did pull out miracles with that squad, prior to building the one we all adored.

Typical Sunderland 40 points we get relegated

Any other season we've stayed up comfortably

Martin Scott was a class penalty taker. I also remember Dickie Ord scoring at the Roker End and running the length of the pitch with a massive cheesy grin on his face . ( Might not have been that season though.)

That was the Dennis Smith promotion year, I only remember as I had the season on video and I watched it about 300 times, was before my match going time by a couple years.

To be fair it was at the beginning of my regular attendance at the games and it's a bit blurry now. Bus down to the wheatsheaf, see the badge man, Roker pie shop for some scran then in to the Fulwell. Loved it.
