I'd rather have decent refs, pundits that don't wear their old team's shirts to work and results that depend on what the players do.
VAR has actually made things worse in this country, somehow. It's ridiculous.
Why can't they use technology like they do in rugby?
There is a continuous dialogue between the on field ref and the TMO to help ensure he gets decisions right.
Surely that would work in football?

Mark Hughes is trending on social media. Reading and Sunderland fans must be rather nervous...

Milan fans are calling for the head of manager Stefano Pioli... before he's been given the job! <laugh>
He must be really looking forward to taking up his new post.

Understandable, given he was Inter coach for six months a couple of years ago - and not even a particularly good one, as his record was W14 D3 L10

Sorry sucky but when the supposedly 'top official in the country' comes out and acknowledges that he actively sought to drive the narrative of a certain agenda in a crunch match between us and Chelsea barely 3 years ago, you cannot blame us for donning the tin foil hats the more we see evidence of various narratives at play throughout a season. Does it surprise me that liverpool are awarded so many penalties? No, as a team such as yours will spend a far higher than average length of time in and around the opposition box. But when other teams are not awarded penalties for identical incidents or worse, we are more than entitled to criticise the absymal standard of officialdom in this country. Clattenburg's stated agenda was that he purposefully allowed the match to flow in such a way that it would be more entertaining for the neutral - the ultimate end goal of which was of course for Leicester to complete their fairytale title win so that the nation could ogle at Gary Lineker in his cottons. And when there is such a narrative - justifiably so by the way - surrounding Pool winning the title after 3 decades of waiting, and when so many high profile pundits and co-commentators are ex-Pool players that only adds to the narrative's tidal wave.

Am I claiming that officials are being instructed/deciding to treat Pool slightly differently as a result? No.
But would it surprise me if we woke up tomorrow to a panorama scoop confirming that to be true? Again, no.
And it is Mark Clattenburg's fault that I feel that way.

hmmmm... bit of paranoia much. Where was Pools trophy last season in the PL. they'd have loved to have handed it to them then especially since they were nearly home and dry before spaffing it up

Third sentence is true, I respect teams that do it the 'the right way'.

Second sentence is untrue, you lot are unbearable, even you bruv and I like you <laugh>

That then leads to saying I disagree with the first, when City win **** no one hears much of it as they've barely got any fans to rub it in. When you lot win ****, even Taliban in their caves in Afghanistan wouldn't be able to escape one of your lot boasting about it!

<laugh>

Notts County narrowly missed out on buying Barcelona's Gerard Pique in the summer.
No, wait, Barcelona's Gerard Pique narrowly missed out on buying Notts County in the summer. That's the one.
Shakira at Meadows Lane? Maybe not, eh?

The narrative of Pep the All Conquering Managerial Genius Who Doesn't Need An Open Cheque book to Win Stuff was in full swing last season. That narrative is now well and truly out of the way, and so begins the narrative of This Year is Our Year. The sad thing is that this Pool team is objectively good enough to win the league without subtle leg-ups from officials every other week.

And to echo what DH has said, I wouldn't mind them winning it - as they have done things the 'right way' off the pitch - but their fans are so ****ing annoying. And that's just the ones in London. I cannot imagine what actual Scousers must be like.

I disagree. I think last season's points total was also due to an awful lot of luck, thinking of things like Pickford's brainfart and Palace having to play them with their 3rd choice keeper who handed them the points.

I think it's only natural for people to believe that over the course of a season, a team that gains so many points must have earned them. However this does not take into account that every point has been the results of specific circumstances, and just because "official help" and luck happened so many times does not mean that it shouldn't be discounted.
