The narrative was probably written before the season started. Unfortunately when everyone gets on board its far easier to go with it than be a dissenting voice. This is certainly true of the pundits, where nobody even suggests that there are possibilities that Liverpool aren't as good as they appear. It's worse when the officials get on board as well, but it's linked. Don't give a penalty for Spurs then nobody mentions it again. Don't give one for Liverpool then it's discussed and dissected - and the refs don't want that sort of attention, it's much easier to go with the narrative. I don't suggest for one minute that they've had a meeting to award the title to Liverpool, but even if it's subconscious, there's quite a lot of evidence to suggest that there's bias. As has been mentioned, you just need to look objectively at pens that were not awarded to other teams and compare that to pens that Liverpool have got.

And I also thought that VAR might just even the playing field, instead it's just rubber stamping the original bias, because they won't overturn a decision unless there's a 'clear and obvious' mistake (what the hell defines that, and even if there was I'm sure it would vary by team), and also saying that because VAR is there, then the original decision must be correct. So they're patting themselves on the back on how scientific it all is. Which as we know it isn't - the computer doesn't put a line on the pitch and decide where the line goes, a person does and the technology is not absolute, but they are certainly not going to let us know what the margin of error is.

It does kind of make me wonder 'what's the point?' Of course we had very little chance of winning, but it turns out the chance was actually none.

    Recent bias can’t be undisputed.

How many times has Salah dived and yet still got the penalty when he should have been booked?

    Okay cool<laugh>

As you can probably tell my moral compass is all over the gaff, what I'm trying to say is I've waited my whole life to watch my team win the league, and if Mane and Salah dive and win a pen in every game from now til season end and we win that pot I'll care not a jot, what with my moral compass and that I'd actually revel in it. <laugh>:emoticon-0148-yes:

As you point out, you've not been the best team during the Premier League era, yet you've had the most penalties.
Doesn't seem very legit, does it?

Thats irrelevant if those pens never gave us any silverware no? I mean wouldn't that be the point of said bias?

We obviously need more help from the ref's if that's the case. Hopefully this year

I could be biased towards David Price in a match against Deontay Wilder. He's still going to get his head punched off.

David Price is a Scouse boxer. Had a good amateur career, was tipped to be a top pro and then his glass jaw was discovered.
Lost quite a few fights since, including a brutal KO by Alexander Povetkin:

Deontay Wilder is one of the current top heavyweights, known for his knockout power.

Neither. A bent ref wouldn't help Price though, which was my point.

I'm not saying that this is the case here, but the Italian match fixing scandal in 2006 involved Reggina and Fiorentina.
It didn't result in either of them winning a title.

I get what most of you are saying, I just don't know what you or I can do about it really, if what you say is the case then the only way I would guess for your team to get the same bias would be to win things consistently and create some fairy tales and legends of your own. Would you agree with That roughly or do you have an alternative?
