Considering he was given 6-9 months to live when diagnosed it shows his fighting spirit and determination in lasting over six years and raising massive amounts for research, sometimes no words are needed...

I liked him as well and remember being saddened at Reginald Bosanquet's death. I'm not sure why, maybe it was because they just read out the news without putting their personal slant on it?
Here's a photo of Sisson's as a child who went to school with John Lennon and Jimmy Tarbuck. Sisson's is on the left with his hand on Lennon's shoulder. Tarbuck is the kid with a clenched fist on Lennon's left. ( He also went to school with George Harrison and Paul McCartney. )

There was a time, when the destination of most of our Saturday nights out was dependant on where Cream were playing. Remember waking up a few Sunday mornings wondering where the f*** we were and how we'd get home. The best band around then for me, a small touch better than Hendrix, and maybe Floyd, but then they were on another planet.
The voice of Marvin the depressive,paranoid robot in the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Stephen Moore , has passed away aged 81. He was in other things too such as father of Adrian Mole, the father of Kevin the teenager and the music teacher in the film Clockwise. RIP.

Shrek (27 November 1994 – 6 June 2011)[1] was a Merino wether (castrated male sheep) belonging to Bendigo Station, a sheep station near Tarras, New Zealand, who gained international fame in 2004, after he avoided being caught and shorn for six years. Merinos are normally shorn annually, but Shrek apparently hid in caves, avoiding muster. He was named after the fictional ogre in books and films of the same name.[2]
After finally being caught on 15 April 2004, the wether was shorn by a professional in 20 minutes on 28 April. The shearing was broadcast on national television in New Zealand.[3][4] His fleece contained enough wool to make 20 large men's suits, weighing 27 kg (60 lb) — an average Merino fleece weighs around 4.5 kg (9.9 lb),[5] with exceptional weights up to around 15 kg (33 lb).[6]
Shrek became a national icon. He was taken to parliament to meet the then-New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, in May 2004, to celebrate his 10th birthday.[7][8] In November 2006, 30 months after his initial shearing. Shrek was shorn again, on an iceberg floating off the coast of Dunedin, New Zealand.[9][10]
Shrek was euthanised on 6 June 2011 on a veterinarian's advice. He was 16.[1]

Renowned Irish broadcaster Gay Byrne has died at the age of 85.
A broadcasting giant in the Republic of Ireland, he hosted the Late Late Show for more than 30 years on the country's national broadcaster RTÉ.
Major figures from entertainment and politics paid tribute to him after his death on Monday after a long illness.
Irish President Michael D Higgins said Byrne was a "man of great charisma", had compassion in abundance and a "sense of what was just".
RTÉ's director general Dee Forbes described him as an exceptional broadcaster with a "unique and groundbreaking style".
"He not only defined generations but he deftly arbitrated the growth and development of a nation," she said.

"Ireland grew up under Gay Byrne and we will never see his like again."
His wife Kathleen and their daughters Crona and Suzy said he died at home surrounded by his family.
"We wish to thank everybody for their love and support during Gay's illness, particularly the wonderful teams in the Mater Hospital, St Francis Hospice and the Irish Cancer Society," they said.

From Ballybunion to Buncrana, he was a familiar and controversial face on Irish screens every Friday night, presiding over the shifting moods of the country.

Byrne hosted the Late Late Show - which combined light entertainment and current affairs - in a relaxed but intelligent manner.
The show embraced discussion about divorce, abortion and sexuality, which were regarded as controversial subjects in Ireland at the time.
It made headlines with highlights such as a 1993 interview with Annie Murphy, who had a child with the Bishop of Galway Eamon Casey.
In 1992, the then Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Brooke fell foul of the show when he was coaxed into singing Oh My Darling Clementine on a day when seven Protestant workmen were killed in an IRA bomb.
'Shone light on Irish life'
Byrne also fronted a long-running radio show that was first known as the Gay Byrne Hour and later the Gay Byrne Show.
He also presented the Rose of Tralee pagent, the Housewife of the Year competition and as a range of special programmes.

He presented his final daily radio show in 1998 and his last Late Late Show the following summer.
Early in his career he also worked for Granada Television and the BBC.
