Spot on! Nothing to be negative about. It's unbelievable the negative spin that has been put on things. Stewart has clearly put those tweets out to shut down the negative comments without giving anything away.

I really don't get why some of our fans do this. Very strange behavior.

For @SunderlandAFC fans who are unsure what i said. I said I can’t say too much but it’s not quite as advanced as people make out but better than 50/50. Nothing is done till it’s done.We will know 1 or 2 weeks.Too many rumours with people pretending to know more than they do

This is the perfect example of how easy it is to interpret things to suit your own 'cause'.

What does 'it's' actually mean, take your pick ....

..... due diligence, agreeing board of directors, share transfers, legal contracts, staffing reshuffle, design of new outfits for ticket office staff, etc etc etc.

50% is just as meaningless ....

.... is there only half a chance it could happen or it is all agreed and the legal process more than 50% completed?

I like Donald but last night was a mistake imo.

I really don't get why some of our fans do this. Very strange behavior.

I think some people just got excited - years of being ****e. The original stuff on rtg such as plane spotting etc was good - it has just turned into a shouty fest. I did think the ALS t shirts etc were daft mind as they were well ahead of the mark. I have enjoyed the snippets that we have got - I believe it was genuinely posted - unfortunately in a board room changes can happen very quickly as deals are renegotiated.

Right guys, here goes!

There has been an awful lot of stuff on social media and other message boards ranging from the takeover being off, being ages away or happening immediately. It's bizarre how last night's event has been reported on so widely, and at times so wide of the mark with polar opposite opinions and what seems like a scramble to be ITK or shoot people down.

First question of the night was about the takeover. Stewart gave an absolute text book answer. People are interested, it's been reported in the media, there's been pictures in the papers etc. He went on to say MSD are huge, they want to look into everything and that these things take time. Some people have taken this as there are problems. It was clear that he couldn't comment or give any more detail than what I've said above due to the obvious legalities.

I don't know what people were expecting? An announcement of this magnitude was never going to be made at a Consett branch talk in.

I'd say he was playing things pretty cool, seemed confident but at the same time trying to give a bit of a "calm down" message. The comments Stewart made about other parties being interested was more so to do with previous due diligence and not the current work being undertaken. The previous due diligence had received excellent feedback, the club is in a healthy position and will attract interested parties as a result.

My own personal opinion is that this is very close to being announced but things are being done properly and there's no need to panic.

I agree with what you say. To do a talk in last night with things appearing to be finely balanced and knowing that people would only want to talk about that subject was just stupid. By the way thanks for the info to date. It really is appreciated by many.

I agree the timing wasn’t great but I suspect it was a bit of a catch 22, imagine the conspiracy theories if he’d cancelled.

Don’t know why Donald has put such a negative spin on the takeover. Yes I wouldn’t expect him to announce it’s all rubber stamped but surely he could give the consett group a bit hope. I’m certainly not a ITK but it’s true the O’Brien lad has joined the board , Another lad I know who I won’t name but he’s position is at director level with our sponsors showed me text msgs from wed 18th and thurs 19th fwd from Charlie saying the deal was done.Only last night he was saying it’s all sorted and they’re all just waiting for everyone to be together so they can announce it.

Thanks for that. Can I just clarify - the bit about other interested parties and due diligence - is it your take that he was referring to previous “other parties” or was it clear he was referring to the past few months??

It certainly isn't as negative as It was first reported. They should have put out a bland club statement that negotiations are on going but there is nothing further to report at this time. Then he should have refused to elaborate further and just referred to the statement.
