honest question - and something that has always been a problem. Even if we became a regular top 10 side in the premier, even top 6, the surrounding area would put the top players off. Would this be a reason for the infrastructure build? It cant have gone unnoticed by the new owners how blue collar sunderland is.

I have the feeling the people they bring in will be bullying the council, Metro, local authorities to show some respect and sort the place out.

SAFC brings in a huge amount of money, via the supporters, into the town. If they want to present a good face to supporters, many of whom live outside the city, visiting supporters, concert goers etc, they need to spend some money and sort the place out. The two routes to the ground from the town centre are disgraceful tbh. The little rail bridge is overcrowded after the game and the river bridge just as bad. The route through Sheepfolds is poor and the back alley behind the Deaf Club is shameful. The 'hot dog alley' is very poor for what was, and will be, a PL ground. And why has no one put a bloody decent path across the grass behind the hotel.

I think these people will electroshock the city back to life and not before time.

It's sounding like the new boys are ruthless and are going to get the club into the premiership with the right people running it.
Ellis is looking more like a guy with a plaything that eventually cost him more than he wanted for little reward.
    Different league.
Shame for the people who thought they were doing a half decent job.
Half decent ain't good enough any more.
I just hope they get the right football people to advise.
    I'm excited again.

Well after hearing rumours about another SAFC board than the mad house that RTG has become, I've found myself here. I notice a few familiar names/avatars so hello to both new and old friends!

I don't know how many pages I've read without profanities or childish bickering - is this the promised land?

Even with all this hope, I have my doubts about Sunderland Council making the most of the opportunity.

I have a feeling/hope they'll be shamed/bullied into action by the new lads.

I've had the fortune/misfortune to see people like this operate close up.

They'll happily use other people's money, time and effort to help them achieve their aims.

The last thing they want is to be seen as the gullible rich who'll just keep pouring money in.

The money will be there but every penny will have to be fully deserved.

If the council don't get with the programme they'll find themselves in the foundations of the new fanzone <laugh>

To be fair I've got little faith in any of the councils as I've had a chance to see how they work from a bit closer up over the last couple of years.

I had a really good proposition for one of the local councils - not Sunderland I'll add... All I needed was an empty building and I had the funds to do something really positive for the community. I was more or less told that I was wasting my time as it was more cost effective to keep the building empty for some reason I still haven't fathomed!

I know mate, couldn't resist a quick horse punching joke.

Seriously Nathan O'Brien is a mate of Methven who's currently being edged out of the SOL.

Looks like nothing more than mischief making by someone agitating for the best possible pay off.

I’ve been told that one of the O’Brien group is going to be commercial director.
