Packing up the laptop tomorrow morning and heading off to deepest Buckinghamshire for a week. Got a lovely cottage near Great Missenden (been there a couple of times before) to chill out (again!
) and let the four legged dogs go mad in the secure lawned garden.
Going to try something again that's worked before.....
There's a great bungalow/cottage down in the New Forest where we've stayed several times - in fact, we just spent a fortnight down there in June/July. Again a brilliant location and large lawned areas for the dogs, and a Peroni friendly patio/terrace to watch them.
Now here's the plan. At the moment as I write and looking on line, it's not booked for the week after next when we're due to return home. It's usually a Friday to Friday let, so a quick phone call next Thursday to the letting agents who I know quite well may be in order. If they don't receive booking by then, it's very unlikely they'll let it for the owner that following week. The owner gets zilch and still has to pay the management fee so usually takes a last minute deal. Half price springs to mind......
Not really bothered either way - either we travel back home next Friday as planned, no problem with that, or we head south to Brockenhurst in the New Forest for a bargain week in a beautiful place.
Downsides? Well, I'll miss our home game against Middlesbrough and having to avoid the horse and pony **** can be annoying. This retirement business is a right bastard........
