It worries me the number of people who seem to think I shouldn't have any say on how we leave just because I would prefer to remain.

Firstly, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion, and if you think we should leave that is up to you.

Personally, I think there is cast-iron, irrefutable evidence that Vote Leave illegally influenced voters and paid for the process with money from various sources including Russia which was not declared as election expenses. The extent of the influence gained swayed the result. For that reason, as well as all the blatant lies told by Vote Leave and Leave.eu, the much-repeated phrase “respect the will of the people” is meaningless. The referendum will almost certainly be declared null and void eventually and it’s everyone’s responsibility to make sure we stay in the EU until that happens.

All you ask is that I accept (not except :) ) we have a difference of opinion.... Beddy, you keep posting on a public forum; I’ll keep responding if I feel that what you have posted is misguided or blinkered or not based on current status, etc etc.

Please remind me what facts you have pointed out.

If you don’t want someone questioning your view, you really shouldn’t post it on a public forum that is meant for discussion.

Do try and retain some sort of critical faculty when reading press reports.

This article is based on a TUC resolution, not a Labour Party one.

I'm a member of the Lib Dem party and thought I'd ask about this, I was told it's not Lib Dem policy and Lib Dem HQ have said this isn't true.

Questioning my view is fine I don't have a problem with that, telling me I'm wrong is fine. However telling me I shouldn't have that opinion or that my view is based on me reading right wing, left wing or any wing is not right. Ive told people time and time again I have based my opinions on direct dealings with the EU. One fact I have mentioned is a matter of history....The French did try and stop us joining the common market. For what it's worth it is the French who are having a lot to say about us leaving. Coincidence maybe but factual. For the record I have agreed many times the referendum was flawed. I have also said I believe in this countries ability to over come adversity. I don't have a problem with anyone questioning my view but how they do it that gets me down sometimes.

Edit ........For the record again what I have said does not necessary apply just to you Fats........you should know that.

I personally wouldnt be against a lib dem candidate standing down if they werent going to win and it was to ensure a pro deal candidate won against a no deal candidate.

Maybe if an deselected conservative is standing against one of Boris's new no deal enforcers in a heavily tory region.

Edit: Just a reminder to everyone we wouldn't have this issue if we voted for AV. Every party could stand without wasted votes.

The price you pay for having a party leader who believes in the “democratic” result of the (flawed) EU referendum being followed, but wants to appeal to both Leavers and Remainers.
I guess how it is worded in a manifesto, and actually getting that message across in a very clear way, will be key to how they fair in a general election, but it doesn’t look good.
When Labour MPs are saying that they will seek a new deal, but their own personal opinion would see them campaign for Remain, it muddies the waters.
And, in normal circumstances, with no Brexit to worry about, I think that Labour would do very well by building on their 2017 manifesto, which they seem to be doing.

The court in Scotland have ruled that the prorogation of parliament is unlaw and shoull be 'null and of no effect'.

They're going to make a recommendation to the Queen that the prorogation of parliament is rescinded.

Interesting. Of course, we all know how much regard this government has for the law.

Supreme Court case set for Tuesday of next week.

If the court upholds the judgement of the Scottish court, then prorogation will have to end and parliament will need to be recalled immediately.

Government are going to challenge in the supreme court which will take place on Tuesday next week. Apparently nothing will happen until then.

Edit: you beat me to it <laugh>

Hopefully all the documentation will be released in line with the Grieve Law passed on Monday to back up this decision. If the government appeal, which they no doubt will, it should all come out in court.

    Interesting times!

Hehe. Note the time. I was dog tired and just wrote YEP. I nearly wiped it out. <laugh>

In truth, it was just the sort of thing I would expect to read about the Labour Party. That is, their ability to worsen their position in the country when it came to getting ready for a General Election. But you're right. I shouldn't have taken it as read. Not even at 2.08am. <ok>
