The thing about last year was that when we had these long term injuries, they thankfully occurred just as a like for like replacement returned from injury. we saw it with Mclean, Leitner and Vrancic interchanging between injuries. Hanley and Klose got injured and that really paved the way for Godfrey and Zimbo to come in and make the impact that they did.

The thing that has confused me about the last few games is that Hernandez's most like for like option would be Roberts and yet Farke hasn't even named him among the substitutes?!

If Zimmermann is out for a long time then I fear the worst for our minus goal difference.

I believe Cantwell replaced Hernandez after impressing pre season and subsequent good performances.

The Ace card we are holding is Pukki and his super human goalscoring record something like 40 goals from 60 appearances for club and country.

If he gets taken out like Klose and Zimmermann then I would fear the worst for our season.

Putting things in perspective we played 4 games , 3 against extremely decent opponents and beat Newcastle who in turn beat Spurs the Champions League finalists.

Expect nothing against Man city but after that we play Burnley Palace Villa Man U Watford Brighton and Everton , there are points to be had from those fixtures.

Let's not write the season off just yet and try to enjoy it.

The injury list is crazy and so many sound pretty long term. After this game we have games that we hoped would be winnable, this injury list puts that in real danger.

Krul - a minor doubt
Aarons - out until the next international break
Godfrey - muscle strain
Zimmermann - our until January
Klose - out for 9 months
Leitner - hasn’t trained for 2 weeks
Vrancic - injured!
Trybull - 4 weeks
Hernandez - min 9months
Hanley - only capable of 20-30mins

Also Roberts is ineligible for this game, Idah likely to make the squad. DF says he’s not happy to throw young players in unprepared, so I doubt we will see many of any of the u23s

Thought I may as well just copy my post from the match day thread

Tut tut. Lazy journalism <shakesheadindisgust emoticon>

Perhaps we should remove Godfrey! I'm wondering if perhaps there was a hint of gamesmanship from Farke in making it sound probable that Godfrey too would miss the Citeh game. Not that I think Citeh would have been any less assuming and wouldn't have changed anything for little old us.

Bah!

Bah!

If he was carrying a knock, he did a good job of hiding it. Wouldn't be surprised if a few more pulled up sore Sunday morning...(plus a few headaches)
